Transfer Speculation
If you hate speculation, take a look at the confirmed transfers, otherwise continue reading….
Incoming: Felipe Baloy, Defender (Age 27), £4m, Possibility 3/10
Felipe Baloy (born February 24, 1981, a day before me, in Panama) is a defender who currently plays in Mexico for Primera División de México team Club de Fútbol Monterrey and is the current captain of the Panama national football team.
Quote from Felipe himself:
“Look, I simply know nothing about that, I think they are rumours so far, I have not had anything confirmed. At the moment I only concentrate on the league. My dream is to play in Europe, I have this idea of some day going to a European team and hopefully I can be successful. But for now the team is fighting and I think it would be uncomfortable to think about that right now.”
Outgoing: Mathieu Flamini (Age 24), Free, Possibility 9/10
Mathieu Flamini (born 7 March 1984 in Marseille) is a French international footballer currently playing for Arsenal. His natural position is defensive midfielder, but he has also been used as a fullback. He is out of contract this summer. Both Juventus and Milan have supposedly offered contracts.
Quote from Ancelotti (Milan Coach):
“He’s a really good player. When he played against us [in the UEFA Champions League] he showed good capabilities.
“A player like him would be good for any team. And, considering his deal is set to expire, should he want to come to Milan he would be a really good signing for us.”
Quote from Juventus director, Jean-Claude Blanc:
“This is an important player who we have been chasing for some time. And it will have to be good to take him because many teams are interested.”
“In order to convince champions you need to take into account their ambitions. To get champions you have to think big.”
Incoming: Miralem Pjanic (Age 18), £8m, Possibility 6/10
Miralem Pjanić (born April 2, 1990) is a Bosnian attacking midfielder who plays for FC Metz in France. Born in Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina, his family moved to Luxembourg. He has played for Luxembourg’s national teams at youth level but officially capped for Bosnia.
Arsene has sent scouts to watch him, but apparently he is being tracked by Barcelona and Lyon.
Incoming: Carvalho de Oliveira Amauri (Age 28), £19m, Possibility 1/10
Amauri Carvalho de Oliveira (born June 3, 1980 in Carapicuíba, São Paulo), better known as Amauri, is a Brazilian football (soccer) player. He plays as striker for Italian Serie A team U.S. Città di Palermo.
A very remote link. A 28 year old for £19m?
Quote from president Maurizio Zamparini:
“We have not received any offers from the Gunners. Other clubs have contacted from Spain and England, but the problem remains his passport.
“Then there’s the issue that we have negotiations with Juventus. We have authorised them (Juve) to speak to the player. I want to reiterate that Juventus is a serious club like Palermo.”
Incoming: Gareth Barry (Age 27), £15m, Possibility 3/10
Gareth Barry (born February 23, 1981 in Hastings) is an English football player who currently is the captain of English Premier League side Aston Villa. Along with former team-mate Gareth Southgate, the pair were the only players to play in both final matches at the old Wembley Stadium, once for Aston Villa against Chelsea and for England against Germany, both resulting in a 1–0 loss.
Yes, he was born two days before me… but still remote taking into consideration the transfer fee
Outgoing: Alexander Hleb (Age 27), £12m, Possibility 5/10
Alexander Hleb is a Belarusian footballer who plays in midfield for Arsenal and the Belarus national team. His natural and preferred position is attacking midfielder or ‘in the hole’ behind the strikers, but he usually plays on the right side in midfield at Arsenal and occasionally on the left.
I would say it’s 50:50 whether he stays or goes. I think Arsene wants to keep him, but he’s been parade around Europe by his agent, and the Hlebgate ice-cream factor is something…
Quote from Inter coach Roberto Mancini:
“We have already spoken about the players we would like to sign. We are interested in Alexander Hleb.”
I’ll be updating this section regularly, with the updates at the top of the page or maybe a date stamp type of thing… decisions, decisions…]]>

< ![CDATA[Wenger should get Nasir and Ben Arfa all together. Also look for a strong defender who can play with kolo toure in the defence line.
A strike with sharp TOES.]]>
Wenger needs to sign NASRI & BEN ARFA get a good striker too someone quick like MARTINS would love to see alot of quality signings at the gunners…..BUT NASRI must sign for us he’d be silly not to.
defense is too immense at the moment. i thnk we desperatly need one. vela and one more striker wud be perfect aswell as Nasri & another midfielder like makoun or chantome.
yea yiu need for nasri and benarfa, bur i like ti keep hleb because he is a best stars in arsenal together with cesk and vallkot
MAN GET NASRI,BENARFA VILLA KOMPANY UMMM OH YH CHANTOME AQUILANI AND MARTINS FOR MUCH MORE PACE
dumb question i know… but when does the transfer window open?
Yesterday, Sunday 1st June!
< ![CDATA[Well personally i'm not seeing anyone being discussed that i want! And thats because we seem to be ignoring the english market.....again!!
Why won't Arsene just go for it - Wheater plus Micah Richards (who is a Gooner!) and with kolo, gallas and either nordvelt or rodgers coming through from the youth team, thats our central defence sorted for the next 5-10 years.
In midfield i'd love to see Hleb swapped for Yaya, who looked impressive for Barca last year and would be the perfect foil for Cesc. Barry will almost definitely sign for the Scouse, so if its true that villa are keen to take hoyte (who with the best will is unlikely to get ahead of Sagna) lets go for Agbonlahor or Ashley Young.
I believe that between Blatter and Platini, there will be a ruling soon regarding home grown players - whether thats 6 or 4 and unless we go for it now, we'll be left behind.
Right, rant over - deep breath, relax and back to work :-)]]>
its quite clear that the english market is way overpriced for the ”quality” you supposedly get , what wenger should do is …. ben arfa in get rid of hleb also samir nasri comes in and if ac milan are offering 32mil for adebayor m8 id jump at that then…. david villa who has a transfer tag of 17 mil which id have any day of the week over adebayor or if not lets get KARIM BENZEMA we have 32 mil if we get rid and it wont put us in any debt with money left over we pick up a spoiler like another flamini (yaya or pior trachowski) and were sweet its not about english talent thats why all the players we want to buy are playing this summer in the euro championships …….!!!!!
< ![CDATA[East Lower Gooner Gaz is right - we should bid for David Wheater from Boro - big, strong, tough tackler - exactly the kind of player we need!
Plus Yaya Toure and we'll be absolutely set for next season!]]>
what so we should pay silly money for david weather who to ber fair cant pass water. i swear you lot have no clue about football. the english market is severely over-priced and what you get is often not worth it look at all other english players weve bought….. jeffers …..richard wright…… and if e dont pull is finger out even walcott …. we payed 12 mil for him an english wonderkid were spurs av payed 4 mil for dos santos who has played 37 times for barca hmmmmmmmm think about it .
< ![CDATA[Hi Gatezy
Whilst i believe that on the whole, the english market is more expensive there is a reason - which even Arsene has made the point of - and that is they are acclimatised to both the weather and the pace.
For franny jeffers failure, i could quote you Antonio Reyes; as for Richard Wright - the poor lad wanted a game!!
This is not an Arsene is anti-english dig.....but BUT, would Tony Adams have thrown the paddy that gallas did at brum, or would he have given clichy a quiet bollokiing for nodding off and given the rest of the troops a "point well earned after what went before" speech?
Besides which, Wheater is one of the best young central defenders around and with Arsene's coaching, who knows how good he can become. Of course, you may prefer Senderos and Johan Djourou - but if you did, i'd suspect you are a Spurs fan :)
Cheers
G]]>
lol i see what your saying about english players beingh acclimatised as yer it does give that advantage but what about torres.. 1st season…santa cruz ….berbatov i understand that there is a majority of us gunners that want to see english talent and i probably deep down do too.. but i believe that by buying an english player for the sake of it is wrong and dont think wenger will do it also all this aron ramsey nonsense….. right comparrison here …..Arron Ramsey 5 mil age 17 VS cesc fabregas £500,000 16 ‘ cough cough’ i do agree with you m8 it’d be nice to see english players but not if we just buying it cause its there … nasri villa and a new flamini senna from villareal and ill give u it weather maybe a punt for new centre back but i wouldnt pay over 8 mil for him bloody 5 mil for ramsey… worlds gone mad man
NASRI VILLA RAMSEY VELA CHANTOME plz sign for arsenal.Dont get ur hope high do in the 3 years arsenal have only spent 40million on tranfer.meanwhile man u have spent 300million (bbc sports).Lets just hope our dreams do come true.Arsenal to win next season!!!!
< ![CDATA[LOL the world is mad when you think ramsey's probably picking up £20k a week - or £1m a year!!
Santa Cruz was fantastic last season as was Torres - he's a top player, just a shame hes playing in the land of the disabled badge :-)
I wouldn't touch berbatov - hes a prima-donna and trouble - albeit (and i'm hating writing this) a fantastic talent.
I think the overridfing issue is this: football has changed, it's no longer a sport, its a business - which in itself isn't an issue.
However, why should a spaniard from madrid, an italian from milan or a german from munich have any loyalty to a club in england?
Look at Ronaldo at the moment - can you seriously appreciate that he is going to get near £200k a week - a WEEK whether he plays for the Manx or Madrid?? I can't get my head around that number - £10m a year, jeez thats probably more than we paid the entire 1st team squad during George Grahams tenure as manager!!
For £200k a week I'd turn out for spurs.....and donate £100k a week to pay Micah Richards wages at Arsenal :-)
Oh, and i'd spring for a chicken balti pie at every home game for you too :-)
I'd also agree that english player prices are inflated, on the whole way over the top but sometimes they are worth it - and i'd pay the money for wheater and richards now - before they get even more expensive !!]]>
Look, there can be no 6 + 5 rule. Remember the days when Man U could not field Giggs because he was Welsh the reason this rule was changed was due to E.U employment legislation which meant that you could not restrict any E.U citizen selling their labour to any employer within the E.U, we would all think it ridiculous if say the owner of a company decided they must only employ U.K citizens in their offices, imagine an interview where they say ” great interview mate and I would love to give you the job but I already have a French worker so sorry no can do” there would be an outcry ( and rightly so ) I am sorry football but you are an employer just like offices and factories, you wont get an exemption from Brussels so live with it.
nice to hear good good newsssssss
< ![CDATA[hi guys, i've read everyones respones and have to say that it's all positive because from april through may its been about all our stars leaving and now i'm glad that players are coming. i believe once the deal is finalized for nasri that will be the only big deal (in terms of money), we need a new central defender, hleb can leave for 12mil + yaya toure landing on our shores would be a good deal however i hope this won't put doubt in cesc's mind to stay with us.
sell gilberto for 4mil if possible and get chantome and need walcott to stay in a wing position and allow bedtner and eduardo to focus being strikers, it will help edu's recovery. there is something that no one has spoken of lately and that is the captinacy, now while gallas is a great center half we have question his leadership, i believe kolo should be handed the arm band has he is 99.99% composed and cool in a game and maybe even rosicky because captin of country, mature in age and player who has drive and passion towards arsenal.
now goalkeepers, even though almunia has really put a foot wrong i still dont think measures up to Lehmann, and the only reason almunia couldn't make mistakes is because we had world class player ready to be between the sticks.
speculation on ade leaving really driving me up the wall because we sign players that seem to be not good enough example song (but who i think is now ready and has confindence to stepup in a defensive midfield role or center half, but back ade many say let's sell him then we can buy 3 or four players including a new striker, but how many seasons our we gona sell players before we establish a squad for the next approx. 5 seasons, that can win back to back tiltles, i mean look at man u, chelsea, liverfools (yes it is a spelling error I've noticed), all won there tiltles on debt we never go into debt when it comes to transfers we always make profit. so keep ade he can get better and when his 29 or 30 we can still sell him with a healthy return like Henry, well not 17mil but fair amount. lets keep our player and just bring more quality to arsenal.
and the whole 6+5 rule i don't believe it will work in the favour the premeirship, believe might become to suicidal for many clubs, and i have on problem with english players but if english players want to be better they have to go abroad when they are young like cesc did. scrap this 6+5 idea. please. thanks gooners]]>
< ![CDATA[I think nasri will sign, but unfortunately this may not be ennough in the midfield (Yes i know we signed Ramsey).
I think we are sorted in terms of striking, with Vela, Adebayor(For how much longer?), Eduardo< Van Persie, Walcott and Bendtner.
Perhaps a couple aren't top choice, but the only way i can see him signing a striker is if Adebayor leaves.
I am hopeful that we will swoop for David Silva of Valencia, a player who has performed consistently all season, rather than Villa, who yes-may have played well in the Euros, but has been average this season.
You can watch Silva play for Spain against Russia.
Arshavin? Wenger said today that he admires him, and his agent said that there are offers on the table from Enland an Germany, but his preferred destination is Spain.
I also hear that weve had a bid rejected for Brazilian striker Diogo, but i dont think wenger will sign him, or Christian Zapata (defender) who weve also had a bid rejected for. Why-MONEY!!!
When will Wenger realize that players cost MONEY
Nasri transfer delayed-WAGES (initially)
FLAMINI LEAVES-WAGES
oh well, maybe we should just trust the old man, but he drives me insane!!!!!!!!!!!]]>
dudee.. im pretty sure that wenger still has a debt to pay off (emirates stadium). He cant just go and spend shit loads of money on players, and financially cripple the club
< ![CDATA[Hi, guys can someone tell me exactly what is going on with NASRI does he want to sign with us or not because pre-season training has started already meanwhile his on holiday.
I've seen on skysports Hleb is about to leave to Barca and we are ready to open talks with ADE and Barca.]]>
Gallas is going to psg. i think we should get felipe Baloy to replace him.
< ![CDATA[Well Wenger does frustrate me sometimes what with his non-spending ways, but i suppose we just have to trust him.
He is probably the best at spotting young talent, buying them cheap and making them into fantastic players. The only problem is i think the players see him as a gateway, they come to Arsenal for a boost and then move to some other major club, never having the intention of staying at Arsenal in the first place.
That's my theory :D
Am i the only female to go onto this page.. Woaaah.]]>
< ![CDATA[We got nasri & ramsey so far. No need for a new striker unless ade goes which i very much edoubt cos milan got ronaldinho & barce have eto'o, henry, gudjonson, bojan and messi and now they just got hleb. We've got Van P, Ade, Dudu, Theo, Vela & Benchnar
the first 3 can easly get 20 goals each theo mayb 10-15 vela i dno if he will get many starts and also bentner got around 10 goals last season
midfield we only need a dm Toure, Veloso or Johnson i personally think and maybe go for ashley young 13m + Eboue they wont let both of Young & Barry go so its one or the other.
In defence Richards would be great signing but we have got gallas which is class people only highlight hes downs and not the times hes saved us and even got important goals, at brum that showed hes emotion i meen look hes seen hes teamates leg fall apart hes side go down 1-0 and get bak to 2-1 and in last minute a controversal pen given
so mayb buy richards and loan bak for year with a recall clause?
so what we need is a Defenceive mid, Winger and a decent understudy to gallas
thanks
King H]]>
hi guys,i really think arsenal wenger is doing a great job by sporting talents. But i really think he should mix the squad with some experienced players.i mean how can you expect to win a prestigious title such as the champions league, premier league and even the F.A cup with litle children,is not possible.ok let’s flash back when we played the finals(ucl)in 2006,it comprises of big names such as HENRY,CAMPBELL,PIRES,LJUMBERG,TOURE,and so on.pleas professor kindly bring in obafemi, kompany, yaya toure and even david villa and i bet you, arsenal will go all the waay to win the treble.gunners4life.
< ![CDATA[Why is there all this talk about a central defender, we have, Toure, Gallas, Senderos, Djourou, Song, both Hoyte's and Nordtveit. These are excluding the younger players who played at Underhill.
I think Arsenal may sign a wide player if they don't its not the end of the world. Walcott, Vela, Nasri, Ramsey, Eboue (alot better as a right -back), Barazite, Lansbury, Traore, Gibbs, Randall, Wilshere (maybe just 16 but class).........the list go'es on]]>
please arsenal should sign a world class striker fast, tall, shot power , free kick accuracy , strong
please arsene wenger should include theo walcott in the first team
< ![CDATA[yah according to last season, 4me ithink walcott must not be included on the first team bse if it comes 2his opponets walcot could have been betterwhen he comes from thebench .On my side ithink Ebue could be Wenger's first choice in number seven the reason is if usee ebue he is strong ,powerful so he can deffend as well as attacking for example when Sagna has gone in over rap .ithink walcot culd bebettr if he comes from the bench may be in the75 minutes bse beyond those minutes arsenal plays attacking foot ball if the opponets are leading thats where walcot is needed .
Ithink it could be like that. thanks we appreciate all your doing .]]>
< ![CDATA[So who are the possible candidates for the job - our possible new signing ?
So far I've heard of Xabi Alonso, Gokhan Inler, Yaya Toure. Who else ?
Anyone heard anything ?]]>
< ![CDATA[Oh I forgot to mention that Diaby's out for a month. So we have Fabregas who's just come from an extended break following the Euro's. Wenger's himself said that he doesn't expect Cesc to be a 100%, but just fit enough. So that means we've got Cesc who's not 100%, Denilson who may or may not have a good season, and Ramsey who might get a month of first team action since he's 3rd choice CM. Or maybe Arsene will play Eboue or Djourou at DM. Because who else is there. Bischoff is injured for a few months. Rosicky for a month, Diaby for a month. These are the people who can play in the central midfield.
Or, what looks more likely, is that we're going to sign someone by next week !
Anyone else as excited as I am ?
WOOOOHOOOOOOO - because i think we might finally buy an experienced player. But who ???]]>
< ![CDATA[I think Silvestre is a good purchase for the money, although a previously hated Manc he has the experience required to provide good cover for a couple of seasons...or when Armand is ready to step in : ).
As far a the DM position we will purchase someone by the end of the transfer window...who it is going to be???
Wenger has his eye on a few players, but altimately it will be the usual battle between experience v youth (expensive v cheap)...Why cant we get someone in the middle someone with some experience but at a good age say 23-26 so we can still mould them into our style. I think realistically we will spend between 10-16m for a DM...Lets wait and see...only another week to go.]]>
fabian delph leeds – arsenal £6 mil good young english midfielder with a left foot rumered to become an arsenal player soon and no reason y not he has an eye for passes and a good shot on him will be a good signing
arsenal now have to buy strong centre midfilder to play with fabregas…..like Barry,Yaya Toure….
I heard recent gossip that we are trying for Yaya for 6M from Barca….Has anyone heard anyhting substantial?
Are you likely to update this section anytime soon?
Indeed, this section will be updated very soon!
< ![CDATA[ok well, i don't know any confirmed transfer possibilities which is good because that would be ridicules at this time of year.
however i know what type of player arsenal need.
i have just watched the 1-1 draw with villareal and i have to say throughout the game i was immensely impressed with marcos senna, i saw him previously as spain cruised through Euro 2008 and i think he would be a most useful asset in the arsenal midfield.
he is good at dropping deep, and sitting in-front of the back four, he is also good at shooting (as i'm sure almunia will remember) from distance at that! there are so many qualities he posses i just hope that he'll find his way into our team soon!]]>
