Transfer Speculation
This is a new section which highlights all the transfer speculation that happening / going to be happening this summer. There will be a few changes with Flamini, Gilberto & Lehmann likely to leave, but there will be a lot more players linked with us too.
If you hate speculation, take a look at the confirmed transfers, otherwise continue reading….
Incoming: Felipe Baloy, Defender (Age 27), £4m, Possibility 3/10
Felipe Baloy (born February 24, 1981, a day before me, in Panama) is a defender who currently plays in Mexico for Primera División de México team Club de Fútbol Monterrey and is the current captain of the Panama national football team.
Quote from Felipe himself:
“Look, I simply know nothing about that, I think they are rumours so far, I have not had anything confirmed. At the moment I only concentrate on the league. My dream is to play in Europe, I have this idea of some day going to a European team and hopefully I can be successful. But for now the team is fighting and I think it would be uncomfortable to think about that right now.”
Outgoing: Mathieu Flamini (Age 24), Free, Possibility 9/10
Mathieu Flamini (born 7 March 1984 in Marseille) is a French international footballer currently playing for Arsenal. His natural position is defensive midfielder, but he has also been used as a fullback. He is out of contract this summer. Both Juventus and Milan have supposedly offered contracts.
Quote from Ancelotti (Milan Coach):
“He’s a really good player. When he played against us [in the UEFA Champions League] he showed good capabilities.
“A player like him would be good for any team. And, considering his deal is set to expire, should he want to come to Milan he would be a really good signing for us.”
Quote from Juventus director, Jean-Claude Blanc:
“This is an important player who we have been chasing for some time. And it will have to be good to take him because many teams are interested.”
“In order to convince champions you need to take into account their ambitions. To get champions you have to think big.”
Incoming: Miralem Pjanic (Age 18), £8m, Possibility 6/10
Miralem Pjanić (born April 2, 1990) is a Bosnian attacking midfielder who plays for FC Metz in France. Born in Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina, his family moved to Luxembourg. He has played for Luxembourg’s national teams at youth level but officially capped for Bosnia.
Arsene has sent scouts to watch him, but apparently he is being tracked by Barcelona and Lyon.
Incoming: Carvalho de Oliveira Amauri (Age 28), £19m, Possibility 1/10
Amauri Carvalho de Oliveira (born June 3, 1980 in Carapicuíba, São Paulo), better known as Amauri, is a Brazilian football (soccer) player. He plays as striker for Italian Serie A team U.S. Città di Palermo.
A very remote link. A 28 year old for £19m?
Quote from president Maurizio Zamparini:
“We have not received any offers from the Gunners. Other clubs have contacted from Spain and England, but the problem remains his passport.
“Then there’s the issue that we have negotiations with Juventus. We have authorised them (Juve) to speak to the player. I want to reiterate that Juventus is a serious club like Palermo.”
Incoming: Gareth Barry (Age 27), £15m, Possibility 3/10
Gareth Barry (born February 23, 1981 in Hastings) is an English football player who currently is the captain of English Premier League side Aston Villa. Along with former team-mate Gareth Southgate, the pair were the only players to play in both final matches at the old Wembley Stadium, once for Aston Villa against Chelsea and for England against Germany, both resulting in a 1–0 loss.
Yes, he was born two days before me… but still remote taking into consideration the transfer fee
Outgoing: Alexander Hleb (Age 27), £12m, Possibility 5/10
Alexander Hleb is a Belarusian footballer who plays in midfield for Arsenal and the Belarus national team. His natural and preferred position is attacking midfielder or ‘in the hole’ behind the strikers, but he usually plays on the right side in midfield at Arsenal and occasionally on the left.
I would say it’s 50:50 whether he stays or goes. I think Arsene wants to keep him, but he’s been parade around Europe by his agent, and the Hlebgate ice-cream factor is something…
Quote from Inter coach Roberto Mancini:
“We have already spoken about the players we would like to sign. We are interested in Alexander Hleb.”
I’ll be updating this section regularly, with the updates at the top of the page or maybe a date stamp type of thing… decisions, decisions…
