AGM Update from JAT – The Summary!

Today was the Arsenal AGM and fellow WOA writer JAT was there in full force to represent the World of Arsenal, and he actually managed to speak to Ivan Gazidis and Arsene Wenger. Great stuff…

The highlights from the AGM…

  • PHW agrees PA system too loud and will look into lowering it
  • PHW completely dodges question regarding sale of Lady Nina’s shares and Stan Kroenke’s intentions
  • AW confirms contract extension to 2014 to big round of applause
  • AW: we are conscious of our weaknesses and work very hard to rectify them
  • AW: we are looking all over the world to source the best players in every position
  • AW: the way to success is to trust the players we have and get behind them
  • AW: we lost experienced defenders this summer but their replacements have integrated extremely well
  • AW: at the top level the team that scores first does not lose the game 79 percent of the time
  • AW: this year we will go for the league cup and fa cup as well as the big two
  • AW: our defensive record last year was not good which is why we have changed it this season
  • AW: availability of wayne rooney is a sensitive subject and not the business of Arsenal
  • AW: I agree that sometimes we are overly offensive but we are working hard on the defence believe me
  • AW: this is the club of my heart, my life, and I hope to continue to contribute here even if not as manager
  • AW: injury problems often a result of bad luck. Once you get injured you are more likely to have a recurrence
  • AW: I convinced cesc to stay at this club. He deeply loves and club and we would have sold him if he did not
  • AW: I am confident we will keep cesc for a few more years

JAT will be blogging tomorrow with his overview of the whole day, so stay tuned for more… exciting times…

Massive, massive thanks to JAT for representing WOA today, excellent feedback!

  • Arsefan101

Excellent news guys, thanks for the updates!

  • goonerman

there was rumors going around earlier that vermaelen could be out for months and that was a scary thought becuase i dont think we can do a season without him, but luckily wenger said in his injury update that he is still quite short but he was talking 2 or 3 weeks not 2 or 3 months.

  • Yemi

Nice update from JAT and some cheery news from the AGM. Especially the fact that we have money to spend in january and the fact that wenger says he knows our weaknesses and is looking to shore up the team where necessary.
On a very separate note, My wiife and i just welcomed a baby into our family. Our first baby. Baby Gunner !!!! I am already looking for branded baby gunner things for him

    @ goonerman:
It’s a strange one with Vermaelen, but you’re right… the length of injury is worrying and not having back until 2011 is quite upsetting… the form of Djourou, Squillaci and Koscielny means that we’ve not missed him that much – but where we miss him will be games like Man City and especially the game against Chelsea…

  • Gooner Get Ya

I am really worried about the Man City game for some reason. I hope we bring it on Sunday and try not to go to gun-ho as both Tevez and Ade will be starting and I will be gutted if Ade bags another past us.

    My team for Sunday:

    Fabianski

    Eboue – Squillaci – Djourou – Clichy

    Song – Diaby

    Rosicky – Cesc – Nasri

    Chamakh

Notice I have dropped Arshavin because he lacks hunger to drop back and help defend.

Subs: Szczesny, Gibbs, Denilson, Lansbury or Vela, Theo, Arshavin, Bendtner

    Anyone else worried?

  • Berth

Congratulations Yemi for the new born baby Gooner. Hope his growth coincides with glory days for us. what’s his name – Thierry,Pires or D.Bergkamp.
