Chelsea vs Arsenal – Match Day Live

It’s been an interesting weekend of football so far this week, and it’s getting congested at the top of the table… We slipped up against WBA last week, which means if we don’t come away from Stamford Bridge with a result, we’ll be quite far behind the pack.

Today’s line-up is:

Sagna – Squillaci – Koscielny – Clichy

Diaby – Song

Nasri – Wilshere – Arshavin

With a bench of Szcznesy, Eboue, Djourou, Denilson, Rosicky, Vela and JET…

Over to the comments for more in-match commentary!

    And Breathe!!

I thought Arsene would put in Denilson – I am really worried about Diaby!

  • devday

Good to see Nasri working the right hand side, pressing. Interesting to see Diaby start so high up too.

FT: 2-0. Alex with the thunderbolt 2nd goal.

I wouldn’ say we could win but we had good chances to score in both the halves, overall very good performance from the gunners

same old story….no end product to our game…in the small details bcos chelsea defend better than arsenal…in the last third ..thats where we lost the game…not to talk of taking the chances that came our way…

the gap is not insurmountable but realistically its playing for 2nd or 3rd place now….why bcos there are 2 or 3 teams at our level as such there is no guarantee that we would win against the likes of man city, man utd, villa, stoke….

poor pice of defending from squillaci..for the 1st goal…and then nasri gives the ball away ..Kos had no option but to foul anelka…

thats the game pretty much….apart from chamakh’s chance right after chelsea’s 1st goal when the ball was played over the top..instead of touching the ball towards the goal post he tries to control the ball and he lost that chance in a split second

i wouldnt loose heart with this loss what it means is that we still have some ways to go before matchng chelsea and that there is little room for error, unfortunately…like last season it puts the team under too much pressure…

this makes last weeks stupid loss to west brom altogether more significant

Aiming for 4th place finish again!

I know a loss is a loss but the performance is not represented by the result, we out played them for most of the game and we missed at least 3 great chances, where as Chelsea played on the break and took the only 2 chances they really had! I know injuries shouldn’t be an excuse but missing your best player from each position is amazing and all we can do is hope we can at least get a couple of our big boys back for after the internationals.

I’m sure the media will just talk about men v boys blah blah but it was a lot closer than that! Also it won’t be talked about but the malouda and essien challenges were a joke and at least one red should of come from them tackles! Tge gunners need to bounce back big ye after the international and get a run going but to give up hope after just 7 games is stupid so let’s keep our heads up!

to be honest, im really happy with the way arsenal played today, we didnt have the best side out and we were all over chelsea for some parts of the game, and im sorry but i dont think chelsea got a comfortable win. We finished 3rd last year so even if we dont win the league, if we come runners up, i will think that is a great improvement, i think if we play like we did today, with maybe cesc, rvp or walcott in the side giving they are not injured, we can match united, i think if we can get two good results against city, we are really in with a shot for second place atleast. 7 games in, international break, hopefully players will come back from injury, we just need to keep our heads up, and stick by the mighty arsenal :)

    @ Josiah:
That’s the spirit – we played well, yes we weren’t clinical – but against a top side, when you’re missing the likes of Cesc, Van Persie and Vermaelen, it does become a harder game!

“I know a loss is a loss but the performance is not represented by the result, we out played them for most of the game and we missed at least 3 great chances”

I totally disagree with you, This has always been our problem. Why can’t chamack use his legs ? he had a great chance that he fired across goal and not at goal.

Our attack needs a little more bite. We have need a very dominating on-point striker like drogba, bent etc. ALl possesion and no end product !!! If you dont take your chances, you get punished. We deserved a draw from that game, but how will you get a draw when you dont take ur chances and ur opponent takes theirs?

    @ Kodjo:
    I fell you bro.
    @ Josiah:
How do we finish as runner up if we can’t beat WB at the emirates?, or take a draw from S.bridge ? or even win at anfield (ask blackpool)?

I am not not a prophet of doom, i will always love and support my arsenal, but if we are not careful, even man city will overtake us this season.
