  • devday

    Come on you Gooners!

  • Tm17

Looking at the team if we contain messi and
xavi I don’. Think there are much better then us

  • Sam

The teams are on the pitch, Gunners have a shit scared face!

  • Sam

5 min – it’s a more balanced game so far. Slower too.

  • manoo

that was 2 footed on nasri. how is that not a foul. we cant afford another injury

  • manoo

    busqets like to fall over!!!!!!!

  • manoo

    1 nil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sam

    We’re up!!!!

  • Shawn

    and were level

  • Sam

We get hit by Messi on other end. 3-3 agg.

  • manoo

that litle man is insanely good, sometimes we haev 2 get rid. like Andy gray said, we had 2 hold on for 10 mins. Brilliant 20 mins i think from arsenal. closing down consatntly. GET INNNNNNNNN. COME ON ARSENAL

  • Sam

It’s been a great start by Gunners.

  • Shawn

    barcelona diving like Olympic divers!!!

  • manoo

this ref is a twat, hes giving in to everything.great tackle from denny on messi

  • devday

Ref is falling for Barcelona’s dirty tactics.

How on earth did Denilson get booked for winning the ball?
Whilst Sergio gets nothing for taking down Walcott?

  • manoo

lets keep it tight till half time. they look vulnerable on the break

  • Shawn

    and were behind

  • Sam

We’re still in it at 4-3 agg.

  • Shawn

    and its over

  • devday

    Ouch…. 3-1

  • manoo

he is just special- leo messi- you cant compensate for that- we cant afford a good hiding. Weve done really well, but were losing, not to barca but messi. The rest of them have been useless. lets try and stay in the tie!!!!!!!

  • Sam

At 5-3 is may be really difficult, but we all need to believe.

  • Kuka

Am tempted to keep believing. We can score two goals and concede none……might sound like rubbish, but I will keep hanging on. Hope the players do too

  • Kuka

As a football, you have to uploud Messi. But like Manoo said, the rest have been rubbish. To be honest, we can score three goals…..I really think we can

  • Tm17

    Well messi.……
we can’t really blame it on anyone
that’s just how gd he is

  • Tm17

    Why three?????
Two is more then enough !!!!!!!

  • manoo

last week, we were in a much worse position in the 60th minute. We pulled a goal back from nowhere and we were back in the tie. If we get 1 back, and then even a 2nd, we’re through if we dont concede any more- thats what im worried about- messi is playing out of his skin. But a goal back is a different story. A 3 goal difference would kill us off. i just hope our confidenace doesnt fet knocked if it does get worse, which i hope i won’t!!!!!!!!!!

  • manoo

that crap lb is coming on. maxwell. who got completely buoyed by walcott last week- lets hope he can reproduce it then

  • manoo

we’re playing very well, but our final ball has to be better. we are often choosing the wrong final ball. COME ON ARSENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Shawn

    no possession

  • manoo

silvestre off for eboue, i guess sagnas going cb then.

  • Kuka

    Sagna now plays CB

  • Kuka

Rosicky is really letting the team down. He should be the leader on that pitch, but he is just total rubbish

  • manoo

of 1 player hasnt done enough today for arsenal ,its been rosicky- nothing from him. He has been closing down but on the front foot, he hasnt contributed much.

    hit the post!!!!!! but offside

  • Kuka

Good!!! Rosicky was quite a spectator in there

  • manoo

@kuka great minds think alike. LOL

  • devday

Anyone for a game of scrabble?

  • Shawn

    this is sad . . .

  • Sam

    Messi 4 – 1 Arsenal

    Good night!

  • Tm17

The great arsenal vs MESSI. :(

  • Kuka

We are well best. I don’t mind loosing to Barca. They did well. What can one say….

  • Tm17

I now f*cking understand all the hatred
    against arsenal
i know they play well but I hate Barcelona

  • vitus

We played very good, see you next season Barca, we’ll make you feel bitter, i’m sure

  • Kuka

On a positive note, I am glad this tie is over. I can have my life back and enjoy the EPL relegation battle and the scramble for 4th

  • Sam

The best team won. There’s no shame losing to Messi & Barcelona. Arsenal B team did well too. Thanks your support & good night.

  • Tm17

I know Barcelona are a good well very good side
I know we had a really long injury list
BUT We have to face the facts:
1.Walcott is a great impact player
    nothing more
    2. Bendtner is improving but still not good
    enough for big games
    3. Diaby which I didn’t think I would say
that but isn’t good enough on big game (ala
    bendtner)
    4. I don’t understand wat denilson s role in the
    team

I know Its easy to criticise after the game but
that is just post match analysis for next season

  • Gooner Get Ya

AW needs decent backup players for our ever growing injury list. I hope he has learnt a valuable lesson tonight. I am not even that upset we lost cause we were massive underdogs.

  • Kuka

I have no problem loosing to Barcelona. Men, you can’t be a football fan and dislike the display this night. Congrats to Barca. They deserve to win the trophy. If we believe in pure football as we do, then let’s give it for Barca. I can’t fault any Arsenal player. Eith the resources at our disposal, I do think we did well. We lost to an awesome awesome team. We sure did. Like Sam, thanks for the support and good night. It’s 11:00 in Germany, therefore time to go to bed

  • devday

I do not hate all our players. I do not hate all our players. I do not hate all our players. I do not hate all our players. I do not hate all our players. I do not hate all our players. I do not hate all our players.

  • andrew

my first impression is that we were just not good enough. everytime the ball bounced around, barca were the ones to control and pass it. arsenal looked terrible!! really terrible. i guess that is what it feels like when lower EPL teams play against us. We gave the ball away repeatedly and couldn’t maintain any possession. It was tough to watch. I guess I’m glad that there is only one team in the world that can outplay the Arsenal like that. Unfortunately, we had to play them in the final 8.

Come on Gunners! Lets win the premier league!

  • devday

I am not upset and depressed. I will not eat chocolate and ice-cream. I am not upset and depressed. I will not eat chocolate and ice-cream. I am not upset and depressed. I will not eat chocolate and ice-cream. I am not upset and depressed. I will not eat chocolate and ice-cream. I am not upset and depressed. I will not eat chocolate and ice-cream.

  • Josiah

We lost to the best team in the world, I am not upset keep the faith x

  • Gooner Get Ya

We need to learn to press the opposition a lot more. We lost because we did not play well when barca had the ball. We scored bacause we got a cruical tackle and broke away so why did we then stand off them so much!!

  • goonerman

if one spurs fan (i randomly know quite a few) trys to laugh at arsenal for loosing i will reply simply with! If barca played spurs messi would have scored 8 lol! like wenger said we were beaten by a better team and more crucially the best player in the world beat us onn his own.

we will never know but i do actually believe a fully fit arsenal would of posed a much bigger threat going forward becuase for however hard we worked we simply did not have a game winner or changer LIKE:

    Van persie
    Fabregas
    Arshavin

then throw in 2 vital defensive players:

    Gallas
    Song

i know its excuses but it is TRUEE we are doing what we are doing with only half a team of first choice outfield players and i know we say we should have better back up players but the backup players do fine in the premier league but when you come against barcelona you NEED your first choice 11.

tomorrow is a new day and we should forget this game and move onto next wednesday becuase we play that disgusting scum tottenham and to even think of loosing against them fills me with dread so the lads need to regroup and end this season on a high we have a week to sort ourself out!

    EVERYONE MUST AGREEE WITH ME

  • dampatti

Game of the decade my ar*e! Arsenal got steamrolled just like every other team (except for the English sides of course – all of them performed better against Barcelona in their recent meetings). This was supposed to be a game where Arsenal gave as good as they got, kept the ball, end to end stuff. In truth, it turned out to be worse than the final last season. United got outplayed, but then you expected that if Barcelona were to win. Arsenal got outplayed using the type of football that they are supposed to be the best at. THAT is embarrassing.

  • parsi

Some people are overeacting massively, we were playing the best team in the world, with the best player in the world, playing at THEIR best – no team in the world could live with them, take into account we were missing the spine of the team (Gallas, Fabregas, VP) and outside those three our best defensive player (Song) and best attacking player (Arshavin) – it was always going to be a tough ask.

I actually thought we played pretty well, we looked solid in the opening 20 minutes and was so pleased for Bendtner because Walcott’s pass was awful, just awful – he will not make it at Arsenal unless something drastic happens – performing well at home to Burnley and for the last 20 minutes when a team is knackered is not good enough.

Denilson, Clichy and Bendtner were my standouts last night. I know Denilson isnt everybodys favourite, but his performance last night (and in the first leg) was great in my opinion, did the simple things well, closed down well, and picked out some great passes – maybe the continental style of football suits his shall we say “laid back” style, but he really stood out for me. He is isnt a first teamer with a fit squad, but considering this is the best team in the world, a performance like that is encouraging and hopefully we will see a Song-like improvement in the next few years, he is still learning the defensive game, and hopefully he will grow into a good player.

Im sorry, but statements like “this isnt the club i love” “no fight” are so wide of the mark for me and im sorry but they sound knee-jerk and suggest you don’t even follow football properly, would a team with the aformention key players done better? Maybe, i certianly think it would have been closer, but taking that out of it, we did show fight (coming from 2 down to 3-2 showed that, so did playing intelligently in the second half), and when a player as good as Messi is on full throttle, well, sometimes you have to accept there is nothing more you can do.

Im already proud of the team this season, we need some strengthing, and we need better luck with injuries – if that happens, success is only round the corner.

    nice article
