@Gooner Get Ya: I don’t agree with you, the goals we conceded were mainly thru the left wing before middle, then right

The goals we have conceded from counters have all been straight down the middle of the pitch. Song was caught out for Chelsea’s second just outside the left corner of their box when he should be marshalling the middle of the pitch to stop the problem at the source. This IMO is due to our current formation and AW needs to start applying different tactics for different teams. It us very well going 4-3-3 against The lesser teams in the league as they are not as good both attacking or defending but to use that formation against better sides is as we have seen, pure suicide.

AT YEMI I think we can play 451 formation against team like chelsea and man u especially away wen one point would do.In the champions league this is what we do before.Wenger needs to understand that we need not to attack at all times always going forward.I BELIEVE we should v played for a draw agaist chelsea by sitting back and counter attacking,its simple if u dont come out to play I wont come out,The pressure was even on chelsea so we should v sat back and if they dont get a goal in 60 mins they try harder and more spaces for us to attack .6 POINTS behind wld v still done it.I think we should get a physical striker CHAMACK and play five across some times as that gives us ability to cope with our weakness(TIMIDITY) and we would v been able to attack cus our players can pick a pass from HEAVEN(rosicky,arshavin,fabregas,nasri,van persie etc…..

just my tought bayo wn i talked about mikel. too many all our players including cb are too attack minded with noone covering

formations are just numbers, chelsea left their diamond played a 4-3-3 formation against us,anelka, drogba, malouda upfront, ballack,mikel, lampard in midfield and cole, j.t, carvalho, ivanovic in defence. but they played it defensive style more like 4-5-1 (player discipline) did u see mikel anywhere upfront? we commit too many players upfront u hv to change formation based on the team.

wen u play our present formation u must v a standing four and ur full backs and ur central defenders must not overlap too much but ours is the reverse case.our present formation gives alot of space to opponents in the midfield and makes u susceptible to counter attacks barca also is susceptible.

i do agree with you gooner get ya i think we concede more goals with the 4-3-3 formation and we obviously score more but i would rather see us score less but conced less which means your more likely to win games! but you team is way to attacking but the chelsea formation could be a pretty good one! id say a few different players and the formation would be effective

Do you think it is our 4-3-3 formation that is the problem? I seriously think it may contribute to the lack of defending. maybe AW should play a 4-4-2 (diamond) or 4-4-1-1. especially against the big teams that are more threatening up top.

@dampatti: Clichy seemed to improve cos he wasn’t against any fast and tricky player like ashley young/ nani in the two maches leading up to chelsea match.
I say once again like i have been saying since Adebayor left.
1.) We need a striker with presence,
2.) we need a CB to backup verm and gallas.
3.) We need a DM as a backup to song
4.) We have toooooo many attacking midfielders/ CF’s with no impact on the team. They should go on loan or back to reserves.
B52, Theo, Denilson, Traore (LB), and a host of many other young un’s.
Personally, i think Jay simpson will be more effective than B52

I see the fickle nature of football supporters has reared its ugly head again. Arsenal fans calling for Wenger to be sacked after two poor results? Incredible. Yes he deserves the criticism, as does Benitez at times, but why calls for him to be sacked? If you look at it a little more closely, the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal cannot compete with the likes of United, Chelsea or Man City. You could even through Tottenham in there. They spend hundreds of millions on players. Net. Arsenal and Liverpool don’t, we don’t have the resources, but to remain competitive in footballing terms, on the pitch, is a massive achievement for me. Look at how much Arsenal spend on players. Not a lot is it? They don’t buy players in their prime because I don’t think they want to risk the stability of the club. They may have the money but chose not to spend it as the club is more important than any ¿30-¿30m signing. Because of this, the players they do buy need to be developed. Look at the likes of Song and Diaby now. Fantastic players who have been developed by Wenger. How much would they go for now? This is the stance Arsenal as a club have chosen to take, they believe in it and they stand by it. The result is a very stable club. The amazing thing is, Wenger has managed to keep them competitive and they do play the best football in the country. Liverpool are similar, Benitez has averaged a net spend of ¿16m a season and kept us competitive on the pitch. A fantastic achievement. Arsenal and Liverpool are similar in that respect, and its down the management of the sides. The real under achievers are the likes of Man City and Spurs who throw money at their sides and still achieve nothing. Liverpool and Arsenal fans should count themselves lucky that both club have fantastic managers in place, because I warn you now, if they were to be sacked the fans of both clubs would end up with regret.
