Arsene, pre-match

“Sometimes you develop your strength if you convince yourself that you have it. A big win helps you to think that you are strong and, if you lose, you can think you are weak. That’s what is so good about this game for us, we know that we can be 1-0 down and come back to win against, for me, a Liverpool team who has quality. All this makes me confident about the Burnley game,” he went on. “The team just needed that big win at weekend. Anything can happen of course but I don’t believe we will go up there and not be highly focussed. We will be determined and highly concentrated.”

And the full team news has just been released:

Arsenal: Almunia, Sagna, Vermaelen, Gallas, Silvestre, Walcott, Fabregas, Song Billong, Diaby, Nasri, Arshavin

  4. Sam says on :

Almunia weak again, but so far so good. 0-1 to the good men.

  5. Sam says on :

    Unnecessary penalty. 1-1.

  6. Sam says on :

Fab limping & being subbed b4 half time.
    No more injuries, please!

  7. Josiah says on :

i think we can take the game in the second half
we’ve had the chances. lets put them away.
    i hope fabregas is alright.

  8. Sam says on :

I too am hopeful we can do the damage in 2nd half, but it won’t be easy. Burnly are giving us a rough time. Theo isn’t even in the game, guess he’ll soon be replaced by Dudu.

  9. Adeniyi says on :

I’m so nervous.. We need to take all 3 points

  10. Adeniyi says on :

Portsmouth levels with Chelsea.. we need to take the points asap

  11. Sam says on :

Got lucky, ball in our net but oFfise. Defence & Almunia napping big time.

  12. manoo says on :

OMG shocking from Almunia- nearly cost us another goal- luckily fletcher was offside

  13. Sam says on :

    Dudu as rusty as Theo.

  14. pires says on :

    Chelsea 2-1…come on gunners!!!

  15. Sam says on :

Chelsea now leading, we seem to be settling for a single point.

  16. manoo says on :

thinkin the same thing. Burnley playin well. We need to close them down a bit more- just try and keep the ball. 10 mins lads. We need that goal cos chelski are winnin

  17. manoo says on :

sagna has made a few mistakes as well

  18. Josiah says on :

its all over, you can tell.

  19. Josiah says on :

oh and chelsea have got 2-1

  20. Josiah says on :

how can we go from beating liverpool 2-1 away from home, then drawing to burnley?

  21. Josiah says on :

    im gutted.

  22. Josiah says on :

    so annoying

  23. Sam says on :

1-1, nothing less than what we deserved.

  24. Josiah says on :

its the way, eduardo and walcott seem to lose the ball so much, and once fabregas went off, game set match. and to be honest, im not pleased at all.

  25. Gooner Get Ya says on :

What happened to cesc? Another poor result and another injury, our season is just getting laughable now.

  26. Debs says on :

4 points out of 6 away from home in the space of a few days is a really good result, coupled with us not playing well. We should take that. Fixture list is kind to us for the next few games, so we can regroup.
Cesc’s out for Hull- not yet sure of the severity (hamstring).

  27. zohaib says on :

Hey folks ! sorry i’ve been out for a while …. lots happening ….

What was it Almunia did ? I missed the game and i’m hearing he’s getting quite a bit of stick for something …. ?

  28. zohaib says on :

    Hey Debs !

we certainly don’t have a kind fixture list towards the end of Jan :
27th Jan – Aston Villa away
31st Jan – Man. Utd home
    7th Feb – Chelsea away
    10th Feb – Liverpool home

:D lmao ….. we’re in for some serious football !

  29. Kuka says on :

…you cannot wish away Burnely’s perfomance. They were immense on the night and to be honest, they could have beaten any top side. At some point of the game, I would have taken a point and run with it, because with an extra five minutes, we could have easily lost the game. Credit to Burnley and credit to Arsenal for hanging on. Turf Moor is a tough place to go to. Walcott needs to up his game and while he enjoys the support if the fans, he needs some tough-love. You need to look at Lennon to understand how Walcott is lagging behind. With Van Parsie injured, you would have expected one of them especially Walcott who has a World Cup position to think about to step up, but nothing. Edu and Arsh have no motivation, because they don’t need to impress. But nothing……in terms of wingers, I honestly think Walcott will find it difficult to break into Capello’s side if he goes on this way. We can say he needs games, but surely, how many games does he need?

  30. Kuka says on :

So I hear us bashing Almunia and that is very much OK. That is the tough love that am talking about. But do we realize that we are not scoring goals either? Are we aware that Arsenal’s strength has been on the offensive side even during the days of the invinsibles? And don’t tell me about Van Parsie. If Arsenal continued winning 6-2 or 6-1 or 5-1, as earlier in the season, am sure we would have had questioned the stopper etc. Our offensive play especially the wingers and strikers is rubbish at the moment. I watched the Mancity and Spurs (two teams that I have no love for). I was amazed at the offensive display. As a hater if both, I enjoyed watching the game and wished to have some of the players on our side (I never thought I would ever wish for a city or spurs player)

  31. Gooner Get Ya says on :

The trouble we have is that virtually all players are having a spell of poor form. Normally you have one or possibly two players at once with this issue but we appear to have an entire team. It is probably due to the injuries but you have to question the personnel we have playing for us…are they really good enough?

IMO we must buy in January just to inject some passion back in to our club. Arshavin did bring this last season but seems to not give a shit anymore.

  32. JDD says on :

anyone know what time the cl draw is 2moro?

  33. Debs says on :

Yeah Zohaib. That’s going to be a tough time. I’m just hoping we’d have built up a head of steam by then and gotten used to Robin’s absence; Bendtner should be back as well, and hopefully, Theo and Eduardo would have found something akin to prior form.

  34. Debs says on :

Not sure what time the draw is, tomorrow, JDD.

  35. Debs says on :

    Think it’s at 11am, JDD…

  36. Debs says on :

PS- Anyone heard from Pete or Fabrez lately? I swear they’ve vanished! Lol

  37. JDD says on :

am i right in saying that fabregas’s goal was our first this season inside the first 15mins of a match?

  38. Debs says on :

Yeah, you’re right. At least as far as the PL is concerned. Didn’t do us much good, did it? Lol

  39. Fabrez says on :

Been on holiday debs! And ever so depressed we looked so flat against a decent Burnley team! Arsene talks of the fixture list but every1 has to deal with it at the end of the day so hey! What can ya do? 3 pts against Hull is very important! And Almunia is giving me grey hair b4 my time! *sigh* Play Lukasz…or buy Akinfeev!

  40. Fabrez says on :

Zohaib…the ball was rolling across Almunia’s goal… he went to stop it by going to ground to hold it and it just rolled thru his fingers…maybe under them! All in slow motion! Not pretty! The ball continued to roll toward Fletcher who was not offside n put the ball into our net… We could have lost that game!
