Straight from the BBC, we’ve got a summation of the game…
Teenager Tom Cruise makes his Arsenal debut at left-back against Olympiakos in Group H. With loads of senior players rested, fit-again Theo Walcott starts, along with Cameroon midfielder Alex Song. Mikael Silvestre is in defence alongside reserve-team captain Kyle Bartley. Olympiakos need only a point to join Arsenal in the last 16 and have former Aston Villa defender Olof Mellberg in their starting XI.
And the full line up has been announced:
Fabianski
Gilbert – Bartley – Silvestre – Cruise
Ramsey – Song
Walcott – Wilshere – Merida
Vela
With Mannone, Coquelin, Eastmond, Ayling, Randall and Sunu on the bench…

Hey Berth come on!!
This is a throw away game in terms of results but a massive opportunity for those young dudes! brilliant!
Let’s enjoy!

massive learning curve for these lads tonight – brilliant!!

Aaron Ramsey is unbelievable!

Big chops to;
Ramsey
Song
Fabinaski
Merida
Mid chops to;
Bartley
Silvestre
Walcott
Gilbert
Criuse
Wilshere
Disappointing chops;
Vela
ramsey was amazing tonight he broke up their play and his long and short passing was perfect ! and he made a couple of great final balls which were not finished off by vela or ramsey! we should be proud to have him and man united should be gutted they missed out on him! i dont think he is a youngster that will fade away he is gonna make it! obviously we know about song but he was solid in midfield and actually guided the youngsters in midfield even though he is only 22 lol !
walcott got injured again????!
Good effort from the Young Guns today. Only managed to cach the first half before I had to go to work. Ramsey is a player we need to tie down seriously. He is too good for his own good! Haha. From what I was able to see we lacked nothing more than the killer and final ball. A few heavy and/or misplaced touches were our down fall. But I praise them for being able to play and look assured on such a big stage.
Win, Lose or Draw.. Gooner Til I Die!!
Ramsey was awesome last night, I think Merida Song and Fabianski also had very good games.
Shame Vela couldn’t finish and Walcott’s touch was a bit off, otherwise it was a very good performance from the young lads.
Cruise didn’t look out of place at left back and Bartley did well apart from coming out of defence for their goal.
Gilbert was disappointing and I think this will have been his last game for Arsenal, he’s not good enough for our team, I think he’d do well in the Championship, or maybe lower end of the Premiership.
Wilshere also had a fairly good game but I thought he was a little quite, and Sunu seemed to liven things up when he was brought on.
Great learning experience for them all though and they should be proud of their performance. Now bring on Liverpool at the weekend, and lets hope Arshavin can get 5 this time!!!
Completely off topic but has any heard about Theo being signed by a publisher? Apparently he has been writing childrens stories about a hero schoolboy who is also footballing wonderkid.
Yeah, Gooner Get Ya. I read that on the Yahoo! Eurosport website. Not sure of its authenticity though.
I think the touch and finish is an ongoing problem for our fowards it seems. We lack that ruthlessness when attacking, so that is something I would look at to change, especially heading into this weeking with Liverpool. But I still take nothing away from what they achieved, I think they all played pretty well considering how the game ended. It will be a massive boost of confidence to them all.
GOONER GET YA – I read that too. The books are based on himself and his experiences in school and playing football. I think it’s a good idea, trying to get childrns back in to the art of reading and he obviously seems talented enough to do it. Fair play to lad.
Good summation Wills… Sunu did have some energy about him and agree with the overall player ratings!
