Olympiakos vs Arsenal, CL, it’s for the kids…

It’s true, Arsene has named his 18-man squad for the game against Olympiakos and has selected an 18 man squad including 10 teenagers… The squad is:

Carlos Vela
Theo Walcott
Aaron Ramsey
Alex Song
Mikael Silvestre
Jack Wilshere
Lukasz Fabianski (GK)
Vito Mannone (GK)
Fran Merida
Kyle Bartley
Francis Coquelin
Thomas Cruise
Craig Eastmond
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas
Kerrea Gilbert
Luke Ayling
Mark Randall
Gilles Sunu

I’ll leave it at that for now, as I’ve got a bit of flu creeping in so need to hit the sack quick time… more tomorrow…

PS, what happened to Watt?

Nice. Resting the first team players before the game against liverpool. Any news on Torres and Aquilani?

  • Kuka

…Torres starts on the bench and Aquilani makes his full liverpool debut. Both teams using fringe players, means all eyes are on Sunday’s game….

Wenger has said that Cruise will start at LB on Arsenal.com

That means that Silvestre will start at CB alongside either Song or Bartley.

    My preferred line up:
    Fabianski
    Gilbert-Bartley-Silvestre-Cruise
    Eastmond-Ramsey
    Walcott-Merida-Wilshere
    Vela

Surprised to see Senderos isn’t in the squad either.

He’s being frozen out isn’t he, such a shame. Still rate him highly, unfairly punished for a short run of bad games. If we applied that to all the players Walcott would be at Southampton again.

You lots compalin yet its our fault that Senderous has been treated this badly; kieran as for Walcott I still rate him highly and belief he is capable of playing well and with potential of finishing well. Again his English which we dont seem to have very much in the first team.

I’m not sure about Senderous vs lets say Walcott. It’s a difficult one to say why. Maybe HE himself doesn’t want to play at the club anymore and is securing a deal as we speak. Then again maybe it is because of his performances, bad run and low confidence when playing. The only difference I can see between them both having is that where one of them could have won us a game, the other could have lost us the game. Chances and a mistake from Walcott would more likely win or get a result, but a mistake from Senderos would be highlighted alot more, and has in the past cost us big. I did have great hope for him, but there is something missing from him and his performances.

I’m looking forward to this match tonight. I hope there will be a healthy mix of experience and young talent. Hoping to see Merida shine tonight too! Come on you Gunners!
