Are you ready…?
I said… Are you ready??
It’s back – the Premiership is back and today we take on Sunderland at their ground in what we will a tough game without a doubt. With Kenwyne Jones suspended and Cattermole injured, it is actually a decent time to play Steve Bruce’s team. In the pre match press conference, Arsene expressed concern over both Gallas and Sagna who both played extra time on time on Wednesday. Arsene cited the midweek Champions League and of course next weekend’s big game as reasons to rest the two French Internationals.
Personally, with Gibbs and Clichy both out, I would prefer not to change two other players in our back four. Just imagine if Arsene rests Gallas and Sagna, it’ll be Eboue – Senderos – Vermaelen – Silvestre…. surely that’s too much of a change?
Arsene revealed yesterday that Theo Walcott is back in the squad but I don’t expect him to play from the start… I hope to watch the game on a stream today so should be able to give you running commentary via the comments as usual, but for the moment, here’s my estimated team line up….
Almunia
Sagna – Gallas – Vermaelen – Silvestre
Ramsey – Song
Nasri – Cesc – Rosicky
Eduardo
The bench should see Mannone, Senderos, Eboue, Denilson, Walcott, Arshavin, Vela
I think… The proper team news will be posted in the comments as soon as I’ve got it… it’s exciting, if we win, we’ll close the gap on Chelsea and maybe break away from United… whatever happens in the other games, if we want to win the title, it’s games like this that we have to win!
Come on you Gooners!!! Over to the comments now…

Liverpool playing City at the moment – Liverpool look sh*t and Man City worse… Adebayor looks disinterested… Trust Arsene…!
Liverpool actually started well then injuries kinda killed the game! I actually quite enjoy seeing Adebayor look disinterested for another side! Nice! 3 o’clock is taking 4eva 2 come! Can’t w8 2 c us play! I’m so ready!!!
I knew after writing that comment that Adebayor would score! 1-1!
Sunderland going 4 – 5 – 1
Bent up front as a lone striker with Reid, Henderson, Cana, Richardson and Malbranque behind him.
Good line up for us
Almunia
Sagna – Gallas – Vermaelen – Traore
Ramsey – Song
Nasri – Cesc – Rosicky
Eduardo!
Not a bad starting line up. Great oppertunity for Ramsey today. Come on Gunners!
I think we’ve got an awesome-looking line-up, including the bench! I’m so up for this! Come on Arsenal!
Not a bad line-up at all! I like it! I think we should win but tough match ahead that’s 4 sure. Very happy with the draw between City and Liverpool!! C’mon u redsssss!
Subs: Mannone, Vela, Walcott, Denilson, Silvestre, Arshavin, Eboue
So hard 2 find a stream!
I know, Fabrez! Anyone got any?
Try this:

Managed to get a stream on hdfoot.net, but it went a few minutes before half time. We’ve been attacking well and defending well, should be at least 1-0 to us, but it’s a tough one…
It’s been a flat 1st half, some nice moves by the young guns. Arsenal forcing the game mostly on the right. Nasri & Dudu a bit quiet.
I’m sure we’ll get the result in the 2nd half.
Arsh in, Rambo out.
cool debs! thanks! had another for the 1st half but this 1 is better anyhow. Tough going for the Gunners! We can surely knick it tho!!
*nick it
Sunderland scored… 1-0!! No!!
Darren Bent with the goal – Walcott and Vela on!
No! 1-0.
*sigh* We’ve got firepower for days on the field… C’mon Gunners!!!
Missing RVP so much…
COMON GUNNERS GET A GOAL BACK… ARGH THIS IS PAINFUL!
We lost…
Sounds as if we shud have had a penalty. We didn’t take our chances and Sunderland were up 4 it. That’s that
I’m gutted! I’m going to send Robin loads of horse placenta!
FT: Sunderland 1 – 0 Arsenal – The worst performance of the season, felt like a 2008 game… 8 points behind Chelsea now, Chelsea next week.
Can’t believe I have to support Man U today. We HAVE to beat Chelsea next week. Good thing we have a mid-week game to kind-of make up for this. But we’ve lost our unbeaten run now
Disappointing result, but fair play to Sunderland. A touch of fortune about their goal, but they still count and you have to take the losses with the wins. We played well (Song, Cesc, Sagna especially), and was denied a goal in the first half from a good save. We’re not the only top 4 team to drop points against them, so there’s no shame in it. Never mind.
Chin up Gunners, there’s plenty more games to be won.
Win lose or draw, Gunner til I die
I really thought we had enough fire-power to win this.
Good thing we’re home against Chelsea though.
Me 2 Debs, me 2! This game reminded me of the Fulham game… RvP’s class was missing in all honesty.
First half we definately were on top of them, but as the second half went on they pressed more and more. We probably deserved a draw but fair play to them, they kept on. Don’t think it was our worst perfomance of the season (Fulham away and Alkmaar away weren’t spectacular) but certainly not our best.
Chin up guys.
Honestly am not she we can do it from this position.
i feel tat we were a little “too small” out there. song is the only player tough enough to match them physically. look how eduardo, walcott, arsh and vela fall whenever an opponent pressure them..huh, imo height and streght is still a weakness we have to improve on..
Not sure if I really want Man U to win today…
It’s in our interests if Man United lose!!! It’s always in our interest!!!
Why would any Gunner ever want ManU to win?!!
Just cos it puts a bit of pressure on Chelsea. They are cruising too much! I want Man U to lose, definitely, but if they do win, it could work out in our favour…
unlucky today.
I’m going to try and get over today’s result/performance by focusing on Tuesday’s game. I don’t really agree with the pundits who say we’re lacking upfront with RVP and Bendtner out. I just think the options we have, such as Vela and Eduardo, seem to be much more suited to playing at home. I just think this result was a blip, because of a combination of it being an away match, and the team being apart for 2 weeks. I bet if Man U and Chelsea both played tricky away matches today, they’d have struggled. That’s not an excuse for us to not play well today, but the performance is somewhat understandable.
Thank God our next 3 games are at home though (minus the Carling Cup one), and maybe we can build-up a head of steam once again and go on an even longer unbeaten run! It is possible! I still want Robin back asap though
Just watching the match on MOTD and I think our problem might have been that we didn’t want it enough. Sunderland did, and they got what they deserved. Maybe we underestimated Sunderland a bit. We haven’t done that in a long time, well, since AZ, and I doubt we’ll do it again anytime soon, which I guess is a bit of good news.
Debs is Chelsea next week.I hope you are aware of that.
sunderland was always going to be a tough one. I expected a draw though. I think it is good we lost though, should give us enuff drive to beat chelsea. Did anyone see the chelsea match? Wolves were just not there. And i think we can beat them
Am going to say something no one has mentioned yet, but I think we could have missed Diaby a little bit. I know he isn’t everyone’s favorite, but we lost out in midfield in the second half and as mentioned before, Song was our only physically big presence.
Of course, not burying our chances didn’t help. We could have realistically scored 4 goals, Rosickys saved shot, Song/Eduardo link up, and two shots from Cesc.
But again, fair play to Sunderland. They’re a tough ground to play at, are a decent side and have a decent manager.
Yeah Pete…i do think Ramsey and Cesc are too similar to play together (may only work if Ramsey plays the holding role, like at Wolves) and Diaby would have given us a better balance in midfield, especially in a game like that where physical presence was very, very important. And when Arsene was having a go at “some players” not being up to the required level, I’d think he was speaking of our forwards. I think we should have had 1 goal at the very least!
On another note, I really realy hope Barcelona don’t qualify for the next round of the Champions League. I’ve actually been able to supress my frustration at the boys in the boardroom publicly expressing wanting Cesc but when Xavi and, more recently, Messi start opening their damn mouths it frustrates the pants off of me! Messi saying Cesc cud be the best midfield player in the world within 3 years at Barca…guess what Messi, he’ll b the best at Arsenal. Arsene is his manager! I certainly route for an Inter win in mid-week! You never hear an Arsenal player or Arsene doing the crap those Catalans are doing!
Time to look forward now…let’s forget the past and everyone else and win us some matches! Time for a winning streak don’t ya think?
Good news- apparently we’re in talks with Gallas, Vela and Rosicky for new contracts. Awesome news!
And yeah, Fabrez! Time for a winning streak, starting on Tuesday!
I can’t believe Chelsea lost to Wigan earlier in the season, seeing as Sp*rs, of all people, are giving them a right thrashing! Makes a bad weekend even worse!
8-1 to Sp*rs! What???!!!
Crazy isn’t it. Like something out of Pro Evolution Soccer. Funny thing is I dont think it was shown on tv today. And we’re still above them in the league
They’ll probably release it on dvd soon to celebrate too lol.
Wigan should just retire as a football team
It should be automatic relegation for Wigan! Lol
I’m sure that DVD’ll be out 2moro Pete! lol
Live! It seems Sunderland had it for Arsenal this weekend, as they did the double over us- beating BOTH the men’s team and the ladies’ team! Both of them home wins as well!
yeah guys i agree we didnt really concentrate all a bit bumped out after international break wenger is furious he is going to give it too them, hopefully this should be enough to get the champions league game out of the way and crush chelsea this weekend, walcott to start this weekend
