So, great news about Rosicky starting. Apparently Sagna has a “tight groin” which means Eboue drops to right back and doesn’t give us much choice.
The bench comprises of: Szczesny, Sagna, Ramsey, Silvestre, Wilshere, Gibbs and Sanchez Watt.
Inter vs Barcelona looks like a very tasty game… Eto’o vs Ibra… come on Henry!
Opposition team…
Standard Liege: Bolat, Camozzato, Sarr, Mangala, Rocha, Witsel, De Camargo, Gonzalez, Dalmat, Mbokani, Jovanovic.
Subs: Van Hout, Goreux, Felipe, Dufer, Mulemo, Traore, Nicaise.
Innit. My loyalty to the Gunners just won out on my deciding on which game to watch
C’mon the Arsenal!! Rosicky and Eduardo both starting is great news.
Vieira’s also on the bench for Inter!
Disaster… Eduardo back heels to a random Liege player… Mannone dives…
1-0 to the home team!
Bugger 1-0 down already.
PENALTY TO LIEGE!
Liege 2 – 0 Arsenal!!
FFS!
i’m not watching the game ..but sounds horrible!! any red cards for that penalty we conceded?
wtf guys is our defence high or something sort it out
That was a crazy start, wasn’t it? I’m in shock! I just hope the players aren’t any longer! Come on you gunners! We can still recover, no doubt! Lots of minutes still left on the board!
We’re all over the place… Mannone looks showing.
I missed the goals because some prat who I told not to call while the match was on called, but I had to talk to them and now im even more pissed off that we’re just giving posession away.
Was that the worst shot in the world ever by Diaby?
Need a lot more from Diaby, Gallas, Song, and Clichy.
no shots on target so far, reminds me of ManC game. F@#&!
clichy, song and especially diaby have been absolutely shocking
Bentdner is also consistently a waste of space
let’s hope AW can shake them up at half time, that’s if dont concede any more.
Eboue! WTF! GRRR!
SHOCKING
I almost want to cry! Lol. But I keep reminding myself it’s just a game! Come on Arsenal!
2-1 Bendtner
YES! C’mon Bendtner!
yessss. bendtner!
bendtner score!!!!
Clichy is very poor! Goalkeeper not at fault at all…glad they got the goal before half time, game on!
breathing a bit now. more to come in 2nd half, i realllly hope. we now have the lifeline.
Bloody heck, we had a nightmare start to the first half, and the only positive for from the first 45 mins was the much needed goal. We played well against United and lost, so could we play poorly tonight and win? heres hoping lol
i’m not watching the game, so have no idea of how we are playing.. is it because liege’s player marking us very tightly? or is it that our players just “shut down” like a computer? Fab not creating anything?
Marc Callan- Clichy is very poor? Wow! He’s having a bad start to the season, no doubt, but that’s definitely not a word I’d use to describe him!
Jien, its just too many mistakes and wayward passes thats undone us. We’re in posession but Liege are just defending seeing as they’re ahead.
The horrors of beig an Arsenal supporter! The first 5 min was just a shocker. I think things will improve in 2nd half, the opposition seemed to be tiring in the final moments.
Sorry Debs but he is playing very poorly, Verminator has been pulled out to cover for him a few times…I am just looking for more consistency from him
Pete, well if we are in possesion, then i think the lads will be able to string their passes together sooner rather than later… hope they can win it!!
I stand corrected great track back by Clichy
Bloody hell, Song nearly gave away a 3rd goal with his first kick of the 2nd half.
Beautifl pass from Rosicky to Bendtner, but the Dane scuffs his shot.
Actually Bendtners shot was blocked, my bad
Eddys not havin a gret game either. Diabys improvin. Sing has been awful. Whos on the bench btw.
Our subs are Szczesny, Sagna, Ramsey, Silvestre, Wilshere, Gibbs, Watt.
ramsey & wilshere can come on.
why are the guys losing the ball so easily?!
It’s crazy!! Come on Arsenal!!!
SONG LOST THE BALL AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ramsey on for Rosicky.
this is gettin ridiculous. Takin off rosicky. WTF. TAKE OFF SONG. he has been AWFUL!!!!!!!
Yes ramsey, shot on target. Weve wasted bout 25 mins already
Cmon eboue.
crosses have sucked 2nite.
2-2 Vermaelen!!!!!
Welllllllllll offside……. Vermaelen… 2-2!
that’s more like it!!! 2-2. Now for the third.
Lucky, we were offside and it was still awarded!
I will take that
lets get the third then
Almost 3-2 but a brilliant save from Liege keeper!!!
off da line
Great!! keep it up guys!! take the points home!!
3-2 Eduardooooooooooooooo!!!!
:D:D:D:D:D
3-2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Arsneal make a comeback!!!!
When we play brilliantly we loose. When we play badly we (hopefully) win!!! lol
What a game! We r getting a bit of lady luck thank god
how i wish i am watching….it’s not broadcasted in my country… common we can do it!!
Hahahaha!!! We already have a ref called Eduaro, now Liege have a player called Traore lol.
Wiltshire is on!
Jien, you can watch it here http://atdhe.net/9326/watch-standard-liege-vs-arsenal
Anyone else think the ref looks like Jacque Santini?
I know Pete! We play well and lose, play terrible and win! I know which one I prefer! Lol
Full time 3-2 Arsenal. Blimey we dont make things easier on ourselves do we. Plus two of our goals shouldn’t have been allowed. Was a very ugly win.
Seems like we’ve continued our CL form this season by scoring dodgy goals! First Celtic, now Liege! Lol
Awful performance from every1 except vermaelen and rosicky.
MOst notably crap were SONG, diaby, clichy, gallas, bentdner, eddy (although they scored), even fabs.
Neway we got the 3 points. Should get da full 18 points in this group, better not play like that again tho.
I would take this win any day
hope this comeback win will retsore some confidence back into the squad.. still need to find out what went wrong though, conceding 2 early goals
Lol. I’m shattered, what a rollercoaster. From being quietly confident before kick off, to quickly becoming deflated 4 mins into the game, then absolutely frustrated at our mistakes, to celebrating us scoring and relived by the final whistle. Being a Gunner isn’t good for your blood pressure lol
gotta regroup and settle everyone down in the camp
Just read something interesting over at BBC Sport:
Once before have Arsenal managed to come back from two goals behind in the Champions League. On 20 September, 2000, the Gunners defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2 having trailed 0-2. They become the first club in the CL to twice come back from a 2-0 deficit.
Would take this win any day or way. But… Got lucky tonight. Gunners conceding far too many goals. Better teams will punish us.
Did anyone remember the 1st leg of the CL semi against Man U? Could almost have been the same if it was a better quality opponent, but I’m sure we’ll take the 3 points. Thank God it’s over though, what a rollercoaster that was! I refuse to predict what’ll happen with the Wigan match now! Lol
Commentators in Ireland are saying that Arsenal have too soft a centre, in one way I agree but I just think we are suffering a slight bit of a blip…
Don’t know if these have been brought up,
1. Mannone needed more experience/we needed another more experienced gk as a 3rd keeper as our no.2 was injured
2. Diaby was woeful! I am still of the ( seemingly rediculously ) thought that diaby will do something very special and improve dramatically this season… But this game was woeful for diaby! Forget song!!! Song at LEAST made a few completed passes!! Diaby made next to no complete passes, no good tackles, no spacial awareness.. No creativity… And the list continues… It wasn’t just him but the midfield was so soft it was unbelievable!
3. We aparantly need 8 mins to warm up in a match .. Our fist 8 mins of every game have been woeful this season then we pick up, this game due to an out of his depth mannone and a dive so bad would make c.ronaldos top ten dives of all time we were on the back foot and needed our warm up.. I believe mannone diddnt make a proper on target save after the 5 th min for the rest of the game! Against any proper competition we wouldn’t have been so lucky from conceeding 2 goals in the first 5 mins
4. We were so completely offside on our equaliser! But saying that it eqals the poor decision for the opening penalty so cancel the 2 out and it’s still 2-1 good on us!
5. We did dominate the game when we did get going but honestly how many chances did we convert because of central bendtner and a wide eduardo? Thomas on the wing did well but was innefective with the usual rumblings of bendtner up front and eduardo was too far out oN the wing to be a major threat. Yea they both scored but they both had poor overall games!
6.we need to learn from this! We did well once we got going and there was no doubt in my mind we would win once bendtner scored but it was too rocky too pant wetting! Diaby needs some proper training!
So happy we won and again felt more at ease once we stopped running round like headless chickens!
*equals
*bah too celebratory drunk to proof read!
Gooner for life!!!
+ we do miss our injured players badly++ rosicky is so god damn awsome for a 2 year out 28 yr old player!
* fumblings of bendtner!
Last comment for tonight I swear!
This team came from 2 goals down and won 3-2 and so-called supporters can only conclude we were “lucky”, “awful”, “dodgy” etc. This is lunacy of the worst order. No wonder slick Harry of the Spuds felt bold enough call our fans “nutters.” I watched the game twice and shit happened in the 1st five minutes. (1) Eduardo made that little flick cross field around our 18 yard box, the same flick that our players make hundreds of times in the same position, but this time it fails to reach its destination and good shot, goal. (2) Eboue makes a loose pass and the opponent intercepts, runs towards our box, Gallas clips the opponent’s heel in trying to marshall the player away from the goal, penalty. These things happen. But we were superior in every department from there on and earned our victory. Even the jokers on my Setanta feed, including ex-Manc, Lou Macari, in the midst of their moaning and criticisms had to conclude that Liege was knackered after coming under so much pressure. Most of all every player showed mental resolve, continuing to play the Arsenal-way, knowing that another goal by Liege would have killed-off the game. The nutters who call themselves Arsenal supporters are simply paranoid; unable to recognize that without 5 or 6 of our best offensive players we were never going to be as fluent as we can be but we were better and mentally stronger than our opponents. While they may deny it, too many of these fans buy into the b.s. they hear and read in the mainstream press which is convinced that Arsenal cannot succeed the Wenger-way. I am convinced that this particular group has the talent and the experience to win every competition. Unfortunately the nutters will be the ones to boo and jeer, especially at home, whenever there is a slight setback making the job even harder
last night was probably the worst I have ever seen us play, we were second to nearly everything off the ball and on the ball we couldn’t complete the easiest of passes.
Apart from the scoreline we did end up completely dominating the game which basically broke the Liege spirit and eventually there defence (although our second should not have counted).
I am glad that we won and took 3pts but I am worried that alot of our players performed well below par, hopefully we can get a run of form going now and start winning games without conceding any!!
Harry – you’re a nutter if you tink that the Edaurdo flick wasn’t ridiculous or if you think our offside handball goal wasn’t lucky. Whoever you support!
If my kid did a flick like that in his defensive third I’d run across the pitch slap his arse and drag him home in shame. Whether he pulled it off or not would be irrelevant – it was excessively dangerous and they punished us for it.
Apart from that you’re exactly right, we were the better team. And we still conceded two goals.
We had a lot of players out for yesterday. Almunia, Fabianski, Djourou, Nasri, Walcott, Arshavin, Denilson, van Persie, and Sagna played through muscle tightness apparently, which is why he didn’t start. Of those 9 players mentioned, at least 6 would be definate starters.
To get the result we did with the players available is an impressive thing. We won the game in a way I haven’t seen us do for a long time, we won ugly and it was probably the last thing anyone would have expected from us. And I’d rather that then playing well and ending up loosing.
There were, however, a lot of mistakes made, and we cant afford to make a habbit of performances like that and get a result.
The positives I take are Bendter and Eduardos goals, there was an element of class in those two goals. I’m also encouraged that, barring a few niggles, players like van Persie and Diaby are (so far) getting a good run of games without incurring serious injuries like before.
Overall I’m pleased with the result. We played badly but we won, and thats what good sides do. So much for us having the easy group eh lol
Olympiacos 1-0 AZ Alkmaar!!!!!
Torosidis 79′
Olympiacos 4 ever!!!
