Wait, wait, wait for it…

Yes, that’s the call of the day… more waiting… waiting for the silly International break to be over… waiting for the silly non-Arsenal games to be over… waiting to hear that our team haven’t suffered any more injuries…

Waiting for the Premiership to kick off again…

Waiting for the clash of the weekend, which sees us take on Man City…

Wait, wait, wait for it…

I hate waiting… it’s really hard – why oh why do we have these International breaks!

England vs Croatia, Wembley Stadium

I am going to the England vs Croatia game tomorrow, which will keep me entertained, but the passion I have for Arsenal, will simply never be repeated for England. If England score, will I be really excited – maybe, but not as much as I will be when Van Persie scores a free kick against Shay Given on Saturday…! I suppose there is nothing wrong with that, I am all about Arsenal, so maybe it makes sense.

Tomorrow’s game is another non-Arsenal affair when it comes to England, but one player who will be playing tomorrow is none other than our very own Eduardo. Eduardo, in my opinion, is one of the best players around at the moment – he’s a natural finisher and got skills galore. We’ve already seen in his brief appearances this season that he has a great impact with the Portsmouth game a highlight of his performances so far.

It’s so disappointing to see him be picked on like he has – and the words from David Beckham were sensible and accurate. Post this issue, every time he goes out on the football pitch, you know he’s not going to be the same player again. I’ll be interested to see how he fairs tomorrow.

Eduardo’s team mate, Rakitic, had this to say:

“Eduardo is very angry about his punishment. And it is hardly positive for us because every action involving him will be questioned and this could affect his performance. Dudu is not a diver. I have seen professional divers in other countries who are specialists at making penalties, but Eduardo does not use this strategy. Two matches is an exaggerated punishment. Other players who have received red cards for kicking people get the same, but what Eduardo did bears no comparison.”

And he’s bang on in his assessment of Eduardo and the kind of player that Eduardo is compared to others. I hope people don’t boo him, but I know they will.

Hmph.

Okay, time to move on and wait to see what happens tomorrow.

When the Premiership does eventually return, Niklas Bendtner will hopefully get off the mark this season – with 0 goals in 5 games (albeit, some as a sub), and he really wants to get on the scoresheet soon.

“In order to qualify as one of the world’s greatest attackers, then you are judged on the number of goals you score. You could have all the characteristics but if you don’t score people can say “Yes, he knows all the stuff but he has just scored 10 goals in 40 games.’ Of course that’s not a good record. I hope to see that I score 20-25 goals in 40 games. If I get a Premier League season where I score 10 times and have 30 assists, I think that would be OK as well.”

And with no goals and no assists this season, you’d expect some return soon. Van Persie may not got off the mark yet, but he has contributed with assists this season. Arshavin, although unfit and Eduardo despite his lack of playing time – both have contributed with goals and assists…

Come on Niklas, show us what you’re made of…

Til tomorrow…

  • zaheer

hmm I cant wait for the game against Money City. Should be a good one. Lets see if money can guarantee success…

  • zaheer

    Whats the latest on Rosicky?

  • Arsefan101

Yep, I don’t seem to have the same interest for England as I do for Arsenal… probably the same case for all Arsenal fans!

I think Man City will be a big test and I’m confident we’ll win – I think Rosicky is back in action this weekend.

  • devday

As far as I am aware Rosicky is virtually back! He is due to play in tonight’s game against San Marino, so we will know more later.

  • Leeroy.N

Good to hear about Rosicky, I hope he doesn’t get rushed back again. A couple of Super Sub appearances from Rosicky and Walcott will be enough to tide us through for a couple of games. The need to keep them healthy and strong is more important. IMO. In sayng that, we are having a decent spell of performances, despite the loss to Man U. I wouldn’t change to much if I were Wenger. Is Arshavin playing or being rested do you know??

Win, Lose or Draw.. Gooner Til I Die!!

  • devday

Leeroy – I think Arshavin is set to play against Wales tonight… fingers crossed he’s also recovered…

  • Arsefan101

It’s Arshavin versus Ramsey tonight when Wales and Russia play, also I hear Eduardo is set to start against us tonight.

  • Leeroy.N

Will be a tough battle for both sets of teams. Glad to hear Ramsey is fit enough to play. Eduardo is going to get alot of stick tonight. I hope he shows what he is made of and what he was born to do. It will be a good game I think, no matter the result.

Win, Lose or Draw.. Gooner Til I Die!!

  • Fabrez

Rosicky is playing as I type! Didn’t expect it to be so early. Hope he comes thru ok… Fingers crossed everyone comes thru unscathed!

  • jien

i herad that Vermaelen isn’t playing for Belgium tonight because he is suspended. Good news for us, we will have him fresh or the Man city game.

  • Arsefan101

Yipeeeee! Rosicky is playing or has played today – any idea how he did????

I take it Walcott is not playing tonight??

  • Debs

Rosicky came off at half-time, i think. Hope he’s alright! And yeah, Arsefan101, theo definitely isn’t playing today. No chance.

  • jien

if i am not mistaken Walcott is not in the England squad, so he is fresh for the Man city game too.

  • Fabrez

I get the impression Rosicky is fine. Got an hour long run-out I read. He shud b ok. Same old “Cesc leaving Arsenal” stories with a bit of a Madrid twist in the press today! He apparantly said he doesn’t know if he’ll still be here next season but how many times will he have to deny the same old lines? Highly doubt he said that (granted i do think he’ll leave in a couple years if we don’t win silverware!). And just a thought…I was reading somewhere the number of players we’ve sold to Barca… Henry, Hleb, Overmars, Petit, Van Bronkhorst…how do they even take so many players off us?

  • Debs

I just ignore anything to do with Fabregas in the press, to be honest. I don’t even read it. As far as it stands at the moment, he’s ours, end of.
Glad Rosicky’s alright! :) And Bendtner’s just scored for Denmark! :)

  • Debs

England leading 2nil and I’m not a happy bunny. Come on Eduardo! lol

  • Debs

Get in Eduardo! But the booing by England fans when he came off, totally shameful and uncalled for!

  • Debs

OMG! Sorry to make anyone sick, but this is the WORST tackle EVER! It’s by a Standard Liege (we’re in the same group as them in the CL) player. Thank God he’s suspended for 11weeks! I wouldn’t want him near any of our players! Doesn’t really matter whether it was intentional or not!

But on a more relevant note, well done England, it was quite an impressive performance. Harder tasks ahead though!

  • sam

Well done Cesc for scoring Spain’s opener & only goals (so far till 79 min).

  • sam

Well done Cesc for scoring Spain’s opener & only goals (so far till 79 min).
Cesc assissts on 2nd goal (81 min).

  • Debs

    Yeah Sam, well done Cesc!
I think this is the first time we’ve actually come out of the international week better off, and withoug injury(touchwood Fabregas stays fit for the remainder of the match). We’ve got Rosicky back, and almost all of the lads scored goals or had assists, so confidence must be sky high. Bring on Man City!

  • Fabrez

You said it Debs…it looks pretty good. A fresh Vermaelen, fit Theo, Rosicky & Fab! Edu, Cesc and Nik scoring 2nite and RvP the other day! I say never a better time to face Man City once the guys get their rest!

  • Debs

I know! Especially since they’ll be missing Tevez and possibly Robinho. Looking forward to it very much!

  • Fabrez

    Oooh! Arsh assist! Russia’s 1st! :D

AND DEBS!!! NO WAY!!! Why did i copy n paste ur link?? lol Seriously tho…that is mad! Wow…i’ve seen similar but everytime I see something like this it amazes n shocks me. Well that tackle was just horrible. I guess he didn’t mean to break his leg but he did mean to hurt him bcuz he didn’t seem to tackle…was more like a stamp!! Makes u appreciate how hard it must have been for Edu…and he’s back scoring goals again. Hmm… B’ham v Arsenal (away) will be very emotional for him I think…

  • Fabrez

    youtube.com/watch?v=kn2HzTqKUZA to see the assist…

  • Debs

Arshavin’s such a class player. I’ve got so much respect for him because he always wants to play, whether or not he’s got a noggle or not. Remember the Blackburn game last season when he played with those stitches in his foot, and still scored a wonder goal with that same foot. And yeah, lovely assist from him yesterday. He’ll be key for us in Europe this season- can’t wait.

As for the tackle/stamp, sorry you opened it! lol. But like you said, it just makes you appreciate the fact that Eduardo’s actually back and scoring goals, because it could have been much worse, and in a way, one can’t blame him too much for the dive- only God knows what was going through his mind. The Birmingham away match was the first game I looked for on the fixtures list when it came out. I really hope he can play that day- exorcise some demons! lol. But yeah, it will be emotional. I’m looking forward to it.

  • Debs

Noo! Arshavin’s aggravated his groin injury and will miss the Man City match, as well as the mid-week Champions League game. And there I was thinking we’d ridden the international-break injury storm! Damn :(

  • Fabrez

*sigh* I guess Arshavin’s willingness to play can have its negatives…particularly when it comes down to muscular injuries. Stiches is 1 thing but ur muscles…should have rested it in retrospect. Well that sucks major!!!

  • Berth

It sucks; but at least he is the brave one; am sure it goes down to his willingness to play and give hie best. Its worth commending and should be seen as “unselfish bravery” rather than penny wise ………

I like him (Arshavin), and wish him a quick recovery.

  • Pissed off

Also; I think GUS was a bit selfish handling Arshav; he new it was a risky business playing him; but I guess he desperately needed result – One man’s selflessness (Arsene) being rubbished by a little bit selfish Hiddink.

  • Debs

I guess since he’s out for just one week, it wasn’t that much of a big risk, seeing as Russia needed the 3 points. And I read on his website that there was no chance of him sitting it out- it was Arshavin’s choice. But then, I don’t think he should have played the whole 90mins. Guus should have taken him off after Russia scored the second, because it was quite obvious that Wales were tiring.
But I guess we should just take it as a bit of ‘rotation’. lol. Maybe Rosicky’ll play?

  • Debs

Damn. He might be out for longer. He’s out for the Wigan game as well!

  • Fabrez

And Theo is out for Saturday..so the front 3 picks itself with Edu RvP and Bendtner. Arsene said Theo will be in the squad for the European tie but maybe not to play so we’ve still got to wait in Theo…*sigh* Guessing Rosicky will be on the bench for City…

  • Debs

Yeah, poor Theo. I think I’ll take having Rosicky on the bench than not having him at all. Hope Fabregas plays!
