Word on the street* – that is if you believe words from streets – is that Everton have agreed a fee with Arsenal for the signing of Philippe Senderos. If Everton do agree a fee (reported to be £22m for Lescott) then Senderos will be on his way to Merseyside.
The fee between Arsenal and Everton is supposed to be set at £7m, and the Liverpool based side are also said to be keen on Gary Cahill (currently at Bolton) but that’s no concern of ours!
Arseblog commented on Saturday saying:
I’m told that Philippe Senderos has signed for Everton, done deal (and I know he’s at the stadium today). I think it’s a shame he’s going and his departure means we probably need another defender now. Best of luck to Philippe at his new club. Except on the opening day of the season … when we play Everton.
And he was right – no sign of Senderos on Saturday or Sunday. He’s a gonna.
So that now leaves us with a back two from a back four of: Gallas, Vermaelen, Vermaelen and Silvestre with Song as cover and Sagna as even more cover if really required (the right back has played at centre back before)…
I’ll be back later to talk about the Emirates Day 2 in more detail as well as an overview of the players that impressed the most… I’ll leave you with rumours that Chamakh is now in London, whether on his own accord or not, is yet to be determined.
