Word on the street is that Senderos has agreed a move to Everton…

Word on the street* – that is if you believe words from streets – is that Everton have agreed a fee with Arsenal for the signing of Philippe Senderos. If Everton do agree a fee (reported to be £22m for Lescott) then Senderos will be on his way to Merseyside.

The fee between Arsenal and Everton is supposed to be set at £7m, and the Liverpool based side are also said to be keen on Gary Cahill (currently at Bolton) but that’s no concern of ours!

Arseblog commented on Saturday saying:

I’m told that Philippe Senderos has signed for Everton, done deal (and I know he’s at the stadium today). I think it’s a shame he’s going and his departure means we probably need another defender now. Best of luck to Philippe at his new club. Except on the opening day of the season … when we play Everton.

And he was right – no sign of Senderos on Saturday or Sunday. He’s a gonna.

So that now leaves us with a back two from a back four of: Gallas, Vermaelen, Vermaelen and Silvestre with Song as cover and Sagna as even more cover if really required (the right back has played at centre back before)…

I’ll be back later to talk about the Emirates Day 2 in more detail as well as an overview of the players that impressed the most… I’ll leave you with rumours that Chamakh is now in London, whether on his own accord or not, is yet to be determined.

…one among the many things I admire Wenger for is his ability to admit that he cannot please all players. There are many managers who prefer to have several great players on the bench, week-in-week out. What they do not realize is that, at the end of the day, it affects the mood of the squad especially in the dressing room. I have nothing against the theory of “depth” and a large Squad. If indeed Senderos has signed for Everton, then am happy for him, because I just could not see where Wenger would play in the current Arsenal outfit….he has great stature for a center back….but it just did not work out well for him

Sendoros was at the Emirates on both days, they showed him on the televison coverage.

once again we looked very good going forward against rangers but once again our defence looks like blotting paper wenger has to get a tony adams type i liked the look of the psg centre half looked very good mamaadou sakho

  • Kuka

….just listened to Wenger’s full post-Rangers game (ATVO) and he states that there will be no more exits….

  • devday

KD – yes, he was there, I meant no sign of him playing!!!

  • Leeroy.N

Mamadou Sakho looks like a safe bet, but I doubt PSG will part with him, they struggle enough as it is. Sakho & Sankharé seem like the their future. But he was immense at the back for them. I would love to see him in our colours.. especially now it seems Senderos is departing.

KUKA – I hope that is the truth, we need players to stay and fight for their postions and for the trophies.

  • Kuka

@Leeroy: I do agree with you that we need our squad together to fight for their places. What I fear though is that at times it becomes counter-productive and largely unhealthy to the squad when you hang on to a player who does not get sufficient time on the pitch. Not because he is not good enough, but because their other players ahead of him, in his position. And in the game, there are not many out there willing to be patient to wait for their turn or to fight for their place…we saw it with L.Diarra and recently with C. Teves

  • Jimmy

We are being linked with a move for Neven Subotic, he is a tall 20 year old and would be a good signing.

  • Leeroy.N

KUKA – Yea, it was a shame with Diarra I thought he would have been great in the Prem and for us. But I am reserved about Senderos, again I thought he was a good prospect, but I think he lost his way a little. I’m not sure whether he be able to get upto the standard we need and I feel he wants or wanted to settle in a more “easier” place i.e Italy. But that hasn’t gone the way he wanted, so it looks like a change of teams is in the cards. By no means would I want to keep him there if he doesn’t want to be there anymore. That’s why it was best and good to sell Toure and Adebayor. If we would have kept them any longer.. as you seen with Adebayors stats and goals, it’s a waste of time, wages and effort on a position more deserved for someone else.

I’m praying for us to be pleasently suprised and shocked by Wenger in the next few weeks. We need some good news!

swiss FA confirms everton signs senderous

  • Adeniyi

Philippe Sylvain Senderos (born February 14, 1985 in Geneva) is a Swiss-international footballer of Spanish-Serbian ethnicity who currently plays for Everton F.C.

    Return to Arsenal
On 1 August 2009, various sources in the Swiss media reported that Senderos had agreed a move to Everton F.C.[4][5] They cited his desire for regular first team football in preparation for the 2010 World Cup. In addition, Everton centre half Phil Jagielka’s knee injury would keep him out for the first half of the season, while Joleon Lescott was heavily linked to a move to Manchester City, leaving the Everton side short of depth in that position.

The word on the street has been backed up by the Swiss FA and whoever decided to update Wikipedia! I’m sure we’ll hear official confirmation very soon.

  • Demzz

yh i was listening 2 the world on the street! i mean word on the blogs.. and i heard chamakah! is in london but he lied to his manager to go 2 london.. saying he wants to play 4 arsenal its his dream blah blah blah if they dont accept the bid nw ill just go for free next season blah blah blah!! he would b interesting its nice 2 no arsenal is ones dream team!!

and senderos 2 everton maybe dts a gud move for him but thinking about it!! he actually has improved! would of held him down because he does have a few more years to go b4 he can improve even more! but oh well!! aint always good having a clumbsy tall defender is it!! but atleast he aint worst den bramble saw him play the over day boi was he slacking in everything! reminded me of the bramble from newcastle!! lol

  • Mehedi

    CHAMAKH Is in London

  • Leeroy.N

IF indeed it is comfirmed, it will be a loss. Not a massive one but a loss none the less. He is good at the back, not great.. but young enough to improve, especially in a team like ours. But I still trust that if he goes, someone else will replace him. Maybe will get to see this young Serb after all. He certainly looks and is built for the part! HAHA! I question why a player would go to a team lower down in the division, it cant be for the money. So I think he would prefer going to a more defensive minded team. God knows why?!? Lets get signing!!
