Arsene & William look forward to next season as 3rd kit is previewed…

Afternoon All,

And one thing I have to say is that my beloved Arsenal team are a very good marketing organisation – no sooner have I received my new away shirt and all the goodies that go with it, today I have received the email and marketing stuff about our 3rd kit (featured as the main image of this article)… and now I just can’t resist going and buying one… I hope I do get all those extras (different ones though) if I pre-order…!?!

Personally, I think the kit looks very good – I’m a fan of the white(ish) tops and the color thing has grown on me since receiving my away kit! Take a click to see more below… What do you think of the new 3rd kit?

3rdkit

So, back to things at the Grove and both le boss and the former captain are looking forward to next season and Arsene has been specifically talking about the overtures for his presence by other clubs in addition to his desire to move forward and start the job he has been doing for so long.

Arsene has been steadily creating a club in his image – the image of good football, a world class stadium, awesome fans (yes, that’s us), a brilliant pitch, a youth system to compare to no other and of course a financially stable future. And you know what, he’s pretty much achieved all of the above, with a trophy or two the remaining part of the jigsaw – but nevertheless, that’s quite an achievement.

“I want to have success by building a team with a style, with a know-how, with a culture of play specific to the club and its fans and with young people. That is what I have chosen in my career and want to ensure I continue here at Arsenal. I am in a construction project with a young team, but my intention is to take that project to the ultimate end. For me, pleasure comes from watching those players showing the football I like to see played. The sums we are talking about with Real can appear shocking. But they are the fruit of a calculation carried out by the investors in the club. I believe it is necessary to disregard moral judgement and to simply ask whether the operation will be profitable. In my opinion, to recruit more than three players in a transfer window, as Real plan, is taking a technical risk. You are entering a zone of uncertainty and if that kicks back at you, it can hurt.”

The comments about Real Madrid were interesting, because he doesn’t dismiss the financial calculation, as it’s where we want to be and will be post stadium – but he does dismiss the team changing and of course, with so many in’s and out’s it would be hard to gel in time for next season…

On to Gallas… Although there were some attitude issues over the last few years, one thing which was evident, is that William Gallas was one of our best defenders in the close season before his injury, and even though we’ve signed Thomas Vermaelen and have the able bodies of Kolo Toure and Johan Djourou around, I would really like to see Gallas at the club next season – those four players would definitely be my first choice 4… and the Frenchman has confirmed that he will be around this coming season:

“I am at Arsenal, my contract is still valid for a year, so I am an Arsenal player. We have not talked about renewing the contract, but I am relaxed and looking forward to next season with Arsenal.”

And finally, a little round up of the transfer news…

Bordeaux are apparently interested in Mikael Silvestre (and we may get paid for him), Fiorentina (despite the new contract for Melo) are still interested in Senderos along with Villa who have a few defensive departures so need to strengthen in that department. Apparently Sp*rs want Alex Hleb, who apparently will go to anywhere that will take him (so much changes in a year)… and finally, we’re still interested in Inler and Cana, and maybe maybe might just sign one of them before they extend their contracts…!?!

More tomorrow…

We need to land a DM, and now that Melo is out the picture I imagine that Wenger will go for Cana over Inler, purely because Cana has more expierence. Melo signing a new contract and ruling himself out of being signed by us may be a good thing, purely because I reckon it is going to make Wenger move quicker to get one of the other targets before other clubs jump in (a £5 million bid for Cana has been made by Hamburg).

3rd kit is just lush…absolutely lush! Love me the white(ish) kits as well. Will most probably b getting the away and 3rd kit once I get back to the UK.

I really admire Wenger becuase lots of today’s managers would have left after the kind of critisism he’s received. He could have also gone to Madrid…and regardless of what “project” most managers had at their current club, they would have left to manage the likes of Ronaldo and Kaka. He’s a good man and manager who genuinly cares about the Club as if it were his own child. I for 1 believes he does what is best for Arsenal FC. Top man = Le Boss. Can be frustrating for fans…the last 4 yrs but we push on regardless with full belief in the players and the boss.

  • AJ

Fabrez, your starting to sound like Ronaldo, next thing you’ll say is you prefer to play in a white kit…. =P

  • AJ

*you’re.. my typing has gone to pot

  • Pete

Damn, I’m starting to get my hopes up about Cana becoming a Gooner again! I really hope this isn’t nonsense and that we manage to sign him. He’s the only player we’ve been linked with that has really impressed me. And I think if we do bid then we’re probably favorites to buy him. We’ve got pretty good relations with the French clubs, especially with Marseille selling us Nasri last year, and we can definately pay more than what Hamburg are offering.

    Fingers crossed!

  • Pete

Also, credit to Gallas for speaking respectfully of the Arsenal still. He defiantely deserves to at least see out his contract based on his performances. As long as he behaves himself off the pitch too then he’s welcome to stay even longer.

Dev, just curious, what were the extra goodies you got for pre-ordering your away kit?

  • Pete

    *definately*

  • devday

Hey Pete – I got a nice little Arsenal wallet – the velcro type – an Arsenal bag (the string one, like the Nike ones) and an Arsenal flag – was chuffed with it all, really wasn’t expecting so much!!! No such goodies on the 3rd kit!

  • Fabrez

lol AJ! Hmm…I remember Naldo…played well in the UEFA Cup final…scored as well. Got a good long range shot on him and he’s been capped by Brazil albeit 4 times only. 26 yrs old…can be a good addition actually. Seems like we have loads of CBs now! Surely 2 are going…Senderos and Silvestre probably…

  • fan

Interesting news indeed dev. Hope Cana news is true. 3rd kit has the vibe of the new york yankees with white with navy pinstripes. I dig.

  • Berth

    Fan’s; another defender!!

  • Arsefan101

Do we need another defender? Come on Wenger, sign a DM soon!!!

  • Gooner Get Ya

If we sell Silvestre and Senderos will would need another defender. Vermaelen, Gallas , Toure, Dourjru (I can never spell his name) + 1.

I have heard that Gallas is threatening to leave for free next year if he is not sold in this transfer window…again probably a load of rubbish!! If that is true then we would definately need another defender.

I think AW is going to buy 1-2 more players (we know he wont buy more than 3…ever going by his comment above) my guess would be a CB/RB and DM/CM.

Gooner, it doesn’t matter what Gallas threatens. If he doesn’t get sold this year he will go for free next year. This is our last oppurtunity to sell him. Next year he would only be offered a 1 yr extension as he would be over 30 and so he would go for free the year after instead and so on. If he isn’t sold now he will always be less than 1 year away from the end of his contract.

  • Berth

What’s up with this Madrid people – Benzema, Ronaldo, Kaka and now Ribery; Premiership where are thou spending Power!!!

  • Berth

Well, I car less as long as Man u are been continuously denied to spend on quality players who cares. But Madrid should not dare Arsenal for Fab – balls will roll if they dare.

  • Berth

    * Care

  • Gooner Get Ya

Kieran, He (apparently) will be refusing to sign an extension and will walk out for free…that is his threat.

  • els

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some of kolo in DM position next season. I would prefer to only loose Senderos, even keeping silvestre I know he ain’t much of a player but the squad seem to like him, as he has exactly what every Arsenal fans have been crying out for for the last 4 seasons, bags of experience.
Experience has an off the pitch effect also.

With all this taken into consideration I think we could loose one more defender and sign one more, hopefully Naldo he looks amazing at 6ft 6″!

  • Arsefan101

If we do sign Naldo, then surely Gallas is off?

  • fan

    yes that will be ideal.
