Any player who is regular for club and country plus being a captain at Ajax cannot be a bad player. Vermaelen might not be tall but so is Cannavaro&Puyol. A defender who can read the game well, put his heart&body 2 stop the ball and be able to chase&unsettle the Torres,Ronaldos,Kakas,Drogbas is all we need.
Sylvestre,Gallas and Kolo can't even do better than Song.
Arsenal is bigger than any player, sell Adebayor for all I care and RVP wont sign...Sell him too. Ingrates!

Everyone loves the way arsenal plays, the only wrong thing is not winning in the last 4yrs. however we came so close last season but one in the premiership, semi-finals for CL and FA las season.
I hope mother luck will be on our side this season. i know if we are not hampered by injuries, we will win something.

Well, with LOTS of speculation in the press about Vermaelen's path to wearing an Arsenal kit over the last month, the club themselves have been eerily quiet about things as usual. AW took off for a tour of Asia, and by all presentations has had a relaxed and enjoyable time of it. Good for Le Boss. I like to see him having a good time.

I'm somewhat of the opinion that there are more deals on the way that the club have been silent about. Hangeland, Veloso, Yaya, Bassong, Cana, Melo, etc...all have been bandied about in the press over these last week, and I'm just having a thought that some of these, despite public statements by agents and players, might be moving forward in a quiet, back room fashion.

I'm also wondering, as was posted here earlier I believe - but could have been another Arsenal blog - are we seeing AW letting Gazidis focus on the transfer activities now, while AW works on spotting the talent and just getting the names over to Gazidis with recommendations on transfer fees and wages? I really hope AW and Gazidis are developing that partnership similar to what was in place with David Dein. There was a real simpatico between the two, and Arsenal surely benefited from that in many ways.
