Walcott wants centre role…

When you watch Theo Walcott play – you really can’t help thinking that he is Thierry Henry Mark II. The player has pace in abundance, and his dribbling skills are getting better and better all the time. I know they’re different players, but you can imagine what Henry was like at the same age. (See below for a video of Thierry at 17!).

Henry had played in several positions when he was a kid – left wing, right wing and of course down the centre – and it wasn’t until he matured physically did the Frenchman get his chance in the middle of the park – I think it’s the same for Theo. He’s not yet got the stature of of dominating centre forward, but he is getting there. Theo now is a different bulid to Theo when he joined.

I have been on YouTube looking at quite a lot of footage to gage a bit more about Theo and how he compares to Thierry – you’ll catch Theo’s run against Liverpool as well as a video of Thierry when he was 17 as well as a random funny video of Thierry…

Anyway, back to Theo and this is what he had to say regarding his role in the team:

“I spoke to the boss and he wants to sort of gradually move me into a striker role. I’ll happily play anywhere for this club. But no-one has seen me as a striker at the moment, which is my main position, so I’ll be working well on that in the next couple of years.”

Personally, I can see Theo doing the Anelka, Jeffers, Agbonlahor and of course Thierry role, peeling off the last defender and marauding in on goal – uncatchable due to his pace – and scoring a lot of goals. I suspect we’ll see more of him up front next season and gradually he will become the centre forward that he is looked upon as…

Do you remember Theo’s run against Liverpool… here’s a reminder:

Check this video out of Thierry Henry when he was 17, it’s kind of an interview and it’s all in French but it does make you smile – Thierry has dreads and a moustache…

And whilst I was looking for video’s regarding Thierry Henry at a young age to compare him with Theo – I found this really funny video of Thierry in the middle of a press conference answering his phone to Robert Pires…

I’ll leave you with those for the moment and I’ll be back later with more!

Thierry!! Walcott comparison – Theo is okay but for a central striker position I don’t know how he will fare; but maybe a support striker role could be good for him.

Hey, We all miss Thierry; but I think you are taking it too far.

LOL, Thierry was a legend, it’s some good stuff to watch some of his early years – Berth, look at Theo’s run against Liverpool, remind you of Henry’s against Spurs? I can’t wait to see Theo next season!!

I’m 200% behind Walcott as a striker. He is young, pacey, skillfull & got a good finishing as well. He should be leading the line on the LEFT handside upfront, just like King Henry do. Without a doubt, he can be as dangerous as Henry there. & of course, he is the next Thierry Henry. Really hoping, wishing & can’t wait to see him next season onwards in that role. He will bang in a lot of goals for us, surely.

    Cheers :)
