Changes up front… Van Persie, Bendtner Injured… Adebayor & Eduardo back in contention…

Incy Wincy spider climbing up the spout, Down came the rain and washed the spider out, Out came the sun and dried up all the rain, Now Incy Wincy spider went up the spout again!

On second thoughts, that has nothing to do with the International break...

So, contrary to discussions yesterday, Robin Van Persie has picked up a groin injury and will play no further part in the Internationals this week - he's joined by Nikki B who has suffered a knee injury - both players returning to Arsenal - both players unable to play hopscotch with Rosicky due to their groin and knee injuries respectively...

Adebayor and Eduardo will be playing for their countries tomorrow and I'm very nervous. Both players are fit and very much needed now that we have the aforementioned two injuries. Talking about injuries and talking about Adebayor, here's what the Togan had to say about our season so far:

Incy Wincy spider climbing up the spout, Down came the rain and washed the spider out, Out came the sun and dried up all the rain, Now Incy Wincy spider went up the spout again!

Only kidding, this is the real quote:

“Most of our players have been injured. We have missed Eduardo for several months, Tomas Rosicky for about a year, Theo Walcott for three or four months, Cesc Fabregas for almost six months and I have also been injured for two or three weeks.

If Manchester United had to do without Ronaldo, Rooney, Giggs, Berbatov and Nani, they would not have the same team as they have now – they would not be winning every game. When we get those players back, we will have a chance of winning something.”

And that’s something I’m quite sure of… although, early season defeats did see Ade, Walcott and Cesc in the team, but I see where the big man is coming from.

There’s quite a storm brewing over in the legal department after Cesc Fabregas admitted the tapping up incident with Real Madrid last summer. What will happen now? Will Real Madrid be fined? The Arsenal captain spoke about the tapping up and his commitment to Arsenal:

“It’s true the president of Real Madrid called me personally – we spoke on the phone. But I never gave him my word that I was going to sign for Real Madrid. He asked about my progress and that was it. I have not given him nor anyone else the expectation that I will join them. The same goes for anyone who represents me.

“I am a person of my work and I can assure you that I have never given any club reason to believe that I would leave Arsenal. Nobody can say that they have agreed with me that I become part of their project. That is clear. It is an incredible compliment that two of the most important clubs in the world are interested in you, but I am an Arsenal player and have a contract with them until 2014.”

Astonishing revelation by the skipper – what does this mean now? Will Arsenal take action? I certainly would.

Do you remember something Ramon “I am a liar” Calderon once said:

“Every coach likes him but my policy is that it has to be the player who makes the first step for the signing because we don’t want conflicts with any team”

It’s outrageous that the president of one club can personally call the player of another club, who is under contract. That is tapping up at the highest degree and something must be done about it.

More Cesc related news and Hull have submitted their phoney made up lie evidence in regards to the spitting incident that never was… Phil “I am a liar” Brown, aka Hull “We’re going down” manager said this:

“My evidence has gone in, Brian Horton’s evidence has gone in and Sean Rush’s evidence has as well. That is all that has been necessary as regards to us up to now. There is an independent solicitor representing us and hopefully there will be no bias towards any one club.”

Brown is such a stupid little Arsenal hating manager – a la Sam Allardyce – why do they hate us so much? It’s because they’re stupid and little. Well, Big Sam is not little, maybe little in the brain, big in the pie eating department…

Hmmm… food for thought. Under 21′s tonight and they’ll be without Agbonlahor who’s been called up for Darren Bent who got injured (how many strikers can get injured in one International break?)…

More tomorrow…]]>

< ![CDATA[Man, injuries to any of our players is the last thing we need right now. We've had a good run recently too. We don't want any more set-backs. Hopefully Nicky B and RvP can shake them off quickly. It's probably better that they picked it up on the weekend, as opposed to tomorrow, so that buys us a little bit more time for them to recover. And good luck to the rest of the players tomorrow, am hoping they'll come away from those games ok.

Isn't Cesc due back this weekend? I'm sure it was said that his first game will be against City.]]>

  • Pissed off

The English striking position is Jinxed for sure.

    < ![CDATA[LOL, pissed off...!!

Yes, Cesc and Ade should both be back this weekend... fingers crossed.]]>

  • Pissed off

CESC; Sighs!!! Hope by summer we wont be screaming I saw it coming. Cos if we do its gonna be pretty tough. Assurance is needed V.P said so.

  • fan

So Diaby is also injured. What is going on?

  • Pissed off

    Am less bordered by Diaby.

  • zohaib

    What happened to Diaby ?

  • devday

    < ![CDATA[Apparently Diaby's got a knee injury, and will be sidelined for about 1 - 2 weeks...!

The news from VP is interesting, more on that tomorrow.]]>

< ![CDATA[Gosh I so don't like internationals, sometimes. It's like the managers just use the players when they feel like it and dump them injured. It absolutely sucks. But I guess it's something we've got to come to terms with...

And Dev I hope you mean interesting in a good way!]]>

  • devday

    Not exactly…

  • Debs

    < ![CDATA[Oh, you shouldn't have said! lol
I guess now, since we're strikers short, Ade might start to feel as if he'll always play if he's fit and that might make him stick his finger right back! Not good... Come on Bendtner and RVP, please don't be out for long! lol]]>

  • zohaib

< ![CDATA[Diaby's got a thigh problem. That's what I read. Bendtner's the one with the knee problem. He's returned to London according to SkySports.

I wonder if Cesc will start against ManCity, seeing as he didn't play with Spain. Ade and Eduardo are possibly playing for their countries. If they're not too jetlagged, and since VanPersie and Bendtner might be out for Saturday, Ade and Eduardo might start. Arshavin and Nasri on the wings. Cesc and Song/Denilson in the center. Interesting.

Diaby was beginning to improve. And Cesc was injured. Now Cesc's back and Diaby's injured.

This can't be coincidence can it ?! Even with the strikers ?!]]>

  • Debs

lol Zohaib. That’s one hell of a massive coincidence!

  • Fabrez

I’m convinced that I’ll never see the “Injury News” section on Arsenal’s official website empty…i can’t begin 2 explain how frustrated i am…

  • debs

< ![CDATA[Yeah, I know what you mean Fabrez. you think we're almost there, then along come fresh injuries!
I think I'll give myself a treat the day that happens! I hope it happens sooner rather than later, and that it stays that way for a good while!]]>

Maybe we’ll be ok, you never know. Injuries are an unfortunate part of the game, but it can sometimes be a blessing in disguise. Ade being out for a while has given the likes of Bendtner a chance to shine, and if Cesc wasn’t injured we might not have bought Arshavin. RvP is a good player, but he looks like he could do with a bit of a rest for a week or two. The good thing for us is, while these two other setbacks aren’t good, we do have players coming back who’ll be fresh and ready to push on. Maybe this allows Wenger to try something different with the personell available. For example, if Theo and Cesc are back, then maybe Arshavin can play second-striker with big Ade up front. Here’s hoping tonights games will be kind to our players.
