Come on you Gunners!!!]]>

  • devday

Why didn’t Steven Taylor get sent off or even a yellow for the assult on Arshavin?

  • Debs

yeah, that was ridiculous! And I think he did the same to Ronaldo when they played Man U a few weeks back. I don’t know what the refs were thinking! Blatant foul which definitely deserved a card!

  • devday

Did you see the rugby tackle against Clichy x 2!????!!!

  • Debs

< ![CDATA[no I didn't. At the moment I'm just listening to the audio. The stream I was on stopped at halftime.
But funny goings-on in this match. Now 2 goals in one minute!]]>

  • devday

    Diaby has made it 2-1………..!!!!!!!!!!

  • Debs

    < ![CDATA[Get in Diaby!
Quite a cracking match, it seems!]]>

  • Debs

    3-1! Nasri! Woop!

  • Debs

Our last 3 away wins (including today) were 3-1. Interesting stat!

  • Fabrez

U were sure excited huh debs! :P I was too! ;) Wasn’t in a position 2 b on WOA tho! But cracking match by the sounds of it…can’t wait to see MOTD. More crappy tackling against our boys…no injuries i gather, that’s positive. Heard Theo’s news on the injury was positive! This makes me very happy! Our side ihas picked up just as we thought they would coming into the last bit of the season…and Cesc will b in our ranks for our next game! :D C’mon Liverpool…do the job on Villa 2morro! Was happy 2 see Man U humbled…and Chelsea dropping points was gr8!

< ![CDATA[I saw that. Twice on Clichy. Ryan Taylor. That little cheap scumbag. He clearly pulled Clichy to the ground. Not once, but twice. In a matter of seconds. And the referee didn't even book him once ! F*cking insane refereeing as usual. I would've given Ryan a red card for each of the challenges. It was, at the very least, a yellow.

And the penalty was a piece-of-sh*t decision as well. Too bad for the referee and Newcastle, they got what they deserved.

I thought the center of midfield lacked a bit of forward mentality. It looked very defensive and they weren't able to find the forward passes in the first half. We had some chances but the center of midfield didn't really contribute. Arshavin, Nasri, Bendtner and VanPersie were doing the work offensively. Diaby and Denilson just seemed to be defending. And they weren't really brilliant at that either. We came under heavy attack in the first half and I don't think any of us would doubt that we were second best throughout the first 45 minutes.

The second half didn't look like it would get better, until the first goal and the person who got it. Things looked good. And then as suddenly as we went a goal up, we gave one away. That's Arsenal for you. If there's one team that has comical concentration, it's us. It angers me to the point where I'm nearly pulling my hair out. I didn't think we'd get back in the game. To be fair, it was a bit of luck that caused the ball to wobble and Martins to toe-poke it in but William Gallas should have done better with the ball at his feet.

Surprisingly Diaby woke up. Steve Taylor was off the pitch getting treatment, so they were a man down, but they had 4 men defending. Maybe Beye being a RB doesn't understand CB responsibilities, which is why he left too much space between him and Coloccini, but I can't say that was luck. Diaby created a 1 - 2 with VanPersie. Fortunately they were on the same page. He received it back and was too quick for anyone to catch up to him and then he smashed in in the top of the net. Fantastic. And again for the third goal, this time Nasri running into the same area of their 'D' and smashing into the bottom of the net. I didn't think he'd find the net, but that was probably drilled in with some power. VanPersie getting 2 assists if I'm correct. Arshavin getting one for the free-kick cross, unless it was Nasri who took it. A goal for Nasri, Diaby and Bendtner. Goodstuff !

No more football for 2 weeks !!! Disaster. My life will become boring and depressing again :(]]>

  • zohaib

    forward-thinking mentality*

  • Fabrez

I feel your 2-week depression as well bro…ah well! At least i know my heart-rate will more or less be stable a couple weeks! lol And the freekick was Arshavin so assist to him. He’s been brilliant for us already. The team hasn’t been brilliant for every single minute of matches but the winning mentality and desire is there! We can only get better rite? This pleases me a lot! Gooner 4 life!

  • zohaib

< ![CDATA[And that Arshavin rocket was some strike in the first half. If only it had clipped the bottom part of the crossbar instead of the top !

What a strike. And fantastic ability to keep possession after Taylor made 2 tackles and put him under pressure just before the strike.]]>

  • zohaib

Haha Fabrez. Stable heart-rate. Good one !

  • zohaib

< ![CDATA[But once again I think it's necessary to point out that we missed too many chances. VanPersie played poorly when he should've set up Bendtner a couple of times, and he chose to be selfish.

I think Bendtner and Eduardo would be a better combination, but it doesn't matter what I think. We'll probably have Eduardo, Adebore, Cesc all back by the time we play next. If everybody manages to stay fit during the international break, it'll be interesting to see who Wenger picks for the starting 11.

Dev, maybe you could make a post on that. 'What will the starting 11 be ?' and you could have everybody post their own team. That should be fun.]]>

  • zohaib

Maybe VanPersie and Eduardo would be an even better combination …. depends on the type of football we want to play though. With Bendtner we’re better in the air.

  • zohaib

And yes the Steve Taylor punch on Arshavin was a straight red if not a yellow at the very least. Again, shocking poor refereeing.

  • Fabrez

Its true! lol Finally about 2 c the highlights. Should be good!

  • Debs

< ![CDATA[I don't think you can expect them to score, every chance they create. As long as you create more than enough and score a few, you're allowed to miss. I wouldn't begrudge Van Persie being a bit selfish. He set up 2 goals and he wanted to get on the scoresheet himself.

I think I've had enough of discussions on the starting XI! lol]]>

  • zohaib

I think it’s different this time. Hopefully we’ll have many more players to choose from !

  • Debs

And yeah Fabrez. I was well excited! Definitely depression for the next 2 weeks. Maybe I’ll finally get some reading done!

  • Fabrez

Haha I’ll hope 2 b productive myself! What a shot by Arshavin…keeper had no chance! Shame it didn’t score! And Taylor was horrid with the tackling…took out Arshavin and Clichy too…not impressed at all. But very pleased with the result. Good goals. And i guess Theo’s 2 week injury has come at a good time bcuz he shud b out for 1 game for the most.

  • Pete

< ![CDATA[It was a very good game to watch. Got to give Newcastle respect, they showed up and played positive football. The game was very end to end. I kept thinking about how Theo would have run them ragged on the right, had he not been injured. There was so much space behind the newcastle defence!

We didn't start the first half too badly. We were a lot sharper and more comfortable on the ball, but until he scored, Diaby wasn't having a terribly good game. He seemed to keep hold of the ball just a shade too long, or misplace his passes a bit much to begin with. But he seemed like a different player after his goal. He attacked very well and kept possesion better.

I noticed that Bendtner had more shots on target this week too, and was pleased to see him get a goal. He caused a few problems with his size and strength, and didnt do too badly today considering he's a 20 year old still learning his trade.

Arshavin seems to just keep going from strength to strength with each game. The guys such a clever player. He even had me second-guessing what some of his next moves would be. And his on-target shooting is pretty nifty too!

Overall we got to be pleased with the win. Although we're having to fight for results still, we're at least getting them. To be honest, a bit of a break from football could do us a bit of good at the moment. Players get a chance to rest, or in our case, come back from injury. Just think, by the time we play City, we could have Theo, Cesc, Edu and Ade fully fit (maybe even Rosicky will be closer to returning too). That cant be a bad thing for us :-)

Personally speaking, I cant wait to see Cesc play alongside Arshavin! I think once these guys click then we're going to witness some very VERY good football!

Been very interesting to see the other football results too. The gap between 4th and 5th spot is widening, and 4th place is starting to look like it really belongs now, with Everton slipping up and, hopefully, Villa tomorrow at Liverpool.

But well done to the Gunners! :D]]>

  • Pissed off

< ![CDATA[Saw the game at MOTD; Arshavin brings something different to the team; BELIEVE............... the way the guy skids challenges and make those powerful runs is quiet amazing.

Van Persie should raise his game please; his far better than this; I hope a goal or too helps him. Am not a real fan of Diaby but his goal just like the one against Villa shows top class finish; may be Bedtner should learn.]]>

  • Debs

< ![CDATA[Nice to see pissed off not in a pissed off mood! :D

Some of Taylor's tackles are amazing! In a bad way, I mean. The one where he tackled Clichy twice, the 2nd tackle was an arm across the neck and that was a shocker. Not only that, he'd done it before! To Ronaldo when they played them, and also a similar one to Arshavin! I'm surprised MOTD failed to even give it a mention. He's a good player, and made some fantastic blocks, but he needs to sort out his tackling before someone gets injured really badly.]]>

  • Pissed off

< ![CDATA[Debs LOL: You have to be pissed off for a reason; picked the name when Arsenal were really pissing everybody up.

Debs we had two Taylors in the pitch, the one that tackled clichy twice was different from the one that blocked some chances and Elbowed Arshavin, welcoming him to premier league.

Zohaib, what do you think of Hangalard as an Arsenal defender next season, do you foresee a swoop like the Sol Campel's.]]>

  • Debs

yeah, I figured that out. So confusing! lol

  • Fabrez

Just being random…but is it me or does Fergie send out his deputy to face the media after a loss within recent times? Scolari did it a few times himself…granted his English wasn’t 100%. I know being manager of a “big 4″ club means defeat is harder to take but at least Arsene faces the music as bitter as he tends to look! A Man U supporter was telling me Arsene isn’t a graceful loser…can’t wait to hear what she has to say about Fergie now!

  • Debs

< ![CDATA[lol. Wenger sure is a sore loser. But I think Fergie's worse, seeing as they hardly ever lose, so it gets really under his skin when it happens. Then 2 come in a row, and he just couldn't take it. He should have at least spoken to the media.
Phil Brown's rant after the FA cup match was a sore loser in full flow! One woulda thought he'd be used to it by now! Scolari was pretty good at taking defeat in stride with his attempts at humour.]]>

  • CON-MAN

walcott will be back by man city…10-12 days according to wenger

  • Fabrez

Why did Wenger say Ade will be back in 10 days 2 weeks ago? Everytime he’s asked when Ade will be back, the number of days never seems to decrease…logically it should Mr. Wenger! Unless he’s had setbacks and Wenger didn’t mention it. I know injuries can be troublesome and unpredictable sometimes but when he says it and it doesn’t happen, can b a bit frustrating. He did the same with Silvestre. But in his case he eventually mentioned he had a setback. Effectively, we haven’t really missed either of them as Bendtner has been ok and Gibbs has been good as well. That’s y i don’t trust him with injury news anymore! So back for Man City? I sure do hope so.

  • Fabrez

    Theo that is…

< ![CDATA[Pissed Off, I think you mean Brede Hangeland of Fulham. I haven't watched him a whole lot but I've heard a whole lot. Commentators, experts, match-reviews etc. And I think he's been one of the best defenders in the premier league this season, from what I've heard.
I've also heard of Vidic being in contention for the player of the season, certainly ManUtd's player of the season, again according to what I've heard.
Laursen remained injured for too long this year. Distin's team had a rocky season with Redknapp leaving. I haven't really heard of any other defender really standing out.
There's been talk of Bassong. I only heard of him after he was linked with us. And the kind of reception he got when he left injured against us yesterday, felt like he was a special player for them. Maybe the crowd applauded to make him stay, but whatever the case, it seems he's a pretty decent defender. I haven't seen him much though.

Hangeland though, is tall. Should be an advantage in the aerial battle. What I want to know is, is he good enough in all aspects of his game. I haven't watched him enough to comment on his positional sense. I am not entirely sure if he's quick enough with the ball at his feet, when quick opponents are near him, and when he needs to sort his feet out quickly. I hope he's not slow like Bendtner and Adebore. And Gallas. And Diaby. And Song.

But we might need a CB or two, unless Wenger decides to play Song at CB. I'd probably still take him over Senderos and Silvestre though.]]>

  • zohaib

    CON-MAN – where did you read 10 – 12 days for Walcott ?

  • Fabrez

On ATVO live commentry they said Wenger told Setanta Sports 10-12 days

  • Fabrez

And around 2:30 into this postmatch interview – news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/match_of_the_day/7957386.stm

    < ![CDATA[LOL damn u all answering my q b4 i did!
but basically yh wat they all said, also on MOTD the commentator said so

and abt Ade yh ima bit surprised too, i thought he was only out 3 weeks as it was a hamstring pull? i dno to much abt sports injuries (bar broken bones) but i figured he'd be back for roma...
but we've done quite well without him so it doesnt really matter

and jus a quick thought-what would you guys say to either hangeland or s taylor coming to arsenal? i think this summer either toure or gallas would go (i'd prefer gallas to go tho hes one of my favourite players) but hangeland does always seem to get solid reviews and bar the f***ery from him yday, taylor is pretty solid]]>
