Earlier today, we heard that the deal was a 50-50. The FA Director of Communications, Adiran Bevinghton said:
“Yes, it’s true, the transfer is in doubt. There is a chance it will take us 2-3 days. The odds are 50/50. If the transfer is declared invalid, Arshavin will be returned to Zenit. We can’t rule this out. I don’t think that would be a severe ruling: both clubs had a lot of time to complete it during the window.”
But more recently, the following article was released by Zenit – well, Zenit spokesman Alexei Petrov spoke on Russian TV:
“Both clubs have managed to complete the deal. Arshavin will play for Arsenal from now on,”
“The conditions of the contract are very favourable for Zenit,” Petrov said. “The value of the deal is much more than £12million.”
And Arshavin has also commented:
“I think so. The negotiations came to a close and there will be details [on Tuesday].
“Now I can say only one thing – that if I play for Arsenal, it will be at number 23.”
So… all of this points to one major question…
