< ![CDATA[JESUS H CHRIST. Cardiff did play very very well, but we looked about as creative as a 3yr old on Ritalin.

Bendtner and Eboue back to winning ways. I bet those bids are looking pretty tasty about now.]]>

< ![CDATA[What a rubbish performance. As usual. Bendtner, his twin Adebayor, Nasri and Vanpersie all missed chances to get some goals. No composure. Get Eduardo back quick !

Ramsey and Song in the center didn't look comfortable, let alone threatening. And Diaby looked half-asleep when he came on, so not much of a difference.

Cardiff missed a whole lot of opportunities too. If they'd have scored, we'd be pretty screwed. Or maybe we'd woken up.

But we're not winning anything other than the Carling Cup with Song, Diaby, Denilson and Ramsey in the middle and Eboue and Bendtner make-shifting out wide.

We know we are weak at the CB and DM positions but we're also weak at the RM position. Walcott's still learning, Eboue's inconsistent and doesn't know how to pass, Bendtner's not a RM, Bischoff was probably a bad gamble.

Reading SkySports, News of the World and another Daily something have linked us with Micah Richards for 7 mil pounds.]]>

< ![CDATA[Hey guys at least we did not loose, I know we should ve won the match. But please u shouldnt go criticizing the players unfairly. I remember the praises for bentner and Diaby , then Song and Ramsey these past few weeks.

What we need now is to concentrate on the Everton game and see what we can get from the match.]]>

  • Fabrez

Yup…let’s get behind the guys…hopefully Everton are shattered from playing Liverpool twice…so we can take advantage of that.

  • Fabrez

As for Ramsey i’m thinkin he was well nervous/ emotional in front of his ex-home crowd so that would have been tough on the young lad…think it affected how he performed. I’m thinking we r gonna win when we play em again seeing that we are at home so that’s a positive.

Nope, knocked out of that too.

I sincerely hope we don’t buy Micah Richards he makes more mistakes than Silvestre who’s hardly a shining light for defence.

I didn’t actually think we played that badly at all, we just didn’t look very threatening. The second half was much better.]]>

  • Fabrez

I think Richards makes a lot of mistakes at RB which isn’t his natural position…he’s a lot better a CB…but he’s forced to play RB sometimes for whatever reason. But under AW there is always room for improvement…an Englishman with some grit & determination…always good. Thing is, he aint leavin the Eastlands seeing that they most probably over-pay him and he gets 1st team football all the time…so to me…that’s just a rumour & nothing more.

< ![CDATA[Saw wenger in the post match interview, he looked exhausted and looked like he was going to break (really felt sorry for him ).

Something tells me we might not get Arsh, but after the performance of today by Ebuoe, Wenger and the board might decide to do a bit more. The guy is so annoying.]]>

  • Berth

< ![CDATA[Everton got a point against Liverpool today. They are such a well disciplined side on the defence side and will be a handful for us in set pieces. They do struggle a bit getting goals in open play, though That Fellini of a guy makes a massive difference for them.

Its really important we focus on this game (sounding like Wenger) to get a possible win and a massive confidence. Hope Arsh gets signed before then.]]>

  • zohaib

Was talking about next season when I said we’re not going to win anything but the Carling Cup.

< ![CDATA[One could easily put up an argument for Micah's loss of form at ManCity. New owner. Insane amount of money being talked about. Players coming, players going. Wage demands getting higher. Manager under threat. Being linked to a player a day in the transfer window. That's 30 or so days of specualtion, and more. New manager experimenting with the team. etc etc.

Some of ManCity's best players under Eriksson were Elano, Petrov, Ireland, Richards, Dunne, Johnson, Corluka. How many of them are getting into the team now ? 1 ? maybe 2 ? Is it because they've they become shit all of a sudden ? No. Does the change in atmosphere have anything to do with their poor form ? Probably.

It's total chaos there. Probably a good chance to get Richards as well. But I doubt they'll let him go.

On another front, it doesn't look like we signed Arshavin. We'll probably find out tomorrow. But it seemed to me like Wenger was very deeply hurt by today's performance. Maybe he's beginning to realize that he'll have to give lesser chances in the first team, to kids, if he wants to win any trophies. Well, bless him if he does think that.]]>

  • JDD

< ![CDATA[richards would be a great signing he is strong fast and young perfect for arsenal
we seriously need to resolve the arshavin deal soon otherwise if he doesnt come there will hardly be any time to get someone else]]>

  • AJ

< ![CDATA[Second half was better, but we didn't look like a top team, we don't have a striker that has a real cutting edge, that can produce something out of nothing, we need a new Henry, as for midfield, I knew Cesc was damn important, but I hadn't realised how bad it would be without him, we need him back and a also a defender who will run at players and go past them and not always go out to the corner flag or wings like we always do, thats all we do, just get the ball to the wings.

As for the final result, we don't deserve much better, Nasri had a sitter and screwed it up and Adebayor too, I really am sick of him, as for Bendtner he is a joke, our front line is pretty pathetic.]]>

    < ![CDATA[

Everton got a point against Liverpool today.
    They earned a replay :D

I do find it interesting that some of the regular posters here would be happy to have 20 year old Micah Richards despite slating the team for being too young and lacking experience.

I myself would value his youth – but let’s be fair about his talent. He had half a decent season at Man City. That could easily be a fluke. Hell, Nik Bendtner has scored some amazing goals.

Last season he had a reputation amongst the city fans for only playing well when the game was televised (google some of the Man City fanzines) and this season he hasn’t even managed that.

More convincing than any other argument is him being played out of position.

But then isn’t that Wengers favourite? We did have Bendtner playing on the wing at one point today. We had Flamini in right back at one point last season. He’s played Diaby as a striker and Silvestre has played LB, RB and CB despite being shit in all three positions.

So why buy a player who can’t adapt if that’s what the manager evidently values? I’m not saying Wenger’s right, it’s as frustrating as fuck, but if that’s the chink in Richards armour….. doesn’t he start looking a little less attractive?]]>

  • http://kierandelaney.net/blog kierandelaney.net/blog

I should say in the balance of fairness, that he missed the other half of last season through injury which probably has something to do with his decline in form this season. But if that’s the case it means the injury has affected his ability or his psychology. Either way its not a good condition for a young footballer to be in. No one needs another Ledley King or Kieron Dyer.

  • Fabrez

RVP is the kinda striker to make something out of nothing i believe…can’t b as good as he’s been in every single game i guess. And i have the funny feeling Eduardo is gonna come back sooner than AW has been saying after our attacking performance 2day! And maybe a bit more motivation to ensure we get Arshavin? Maybe, just maybe…

  • Fabrez

As for Richards…i’m not 100% convinced we should get him…i mean…he does have some good qualities without a doubt… but the experience factor is lacking. As i said b4, he would improve under AW but never said i wanted him bought tho… I think we need to go the extra mile n get sum1 proven in that position over seasons as opposed to a single season.

  • zohaib

< ![CDATA[And I find it interesting that you, Kieran, would have Senderos over Richards, when going by your logic, both are inexperienced because they're 20ish. I suppose it's better to have an experienced Silvestre over any of the other two then.

I doubt we'll sign any CB though. I think Wenger'll insist on playing Gallas and Silvestre other than Toure and Djourou. Unless something drastic happens and one of Gallas and Silvestre leaves etc. But I do think Richards is the closest solution to finding a replacement for Gallas/Silvestre, plus he IS versatile. He CAN play at CB and RB. And going by your logic he has age to his advantage.]]>

  • zohaib

< ![CDATA[AJ - I hear what you're saying mate. But I think finally VanPersie is starting to show that he is the striker for us, who creates something out of nothing. I think Eduardo is also similar in that way. But Adebayor is certainly not. He's on the complete opposite end. Specially if you don't talk about headers.

I've been paying attention to Adebayor and he doesn't look like the same guy who got past Stalteri of Spurs with grit and determination on their right wing and took the ball off him, going outside of the pitch himself. Then swiftly moving forward and finding a pinpoint pass to the king Henry, who, within a blink of an eye had already made the one and only graceful touch he needed and had flicked it past Robinson's diving hands for our extremely crucial equaliser.

Adebayor just isn't the same footballer. I think he wanted his and Henry's partnership to grow and it didn't happen that way. It's different with VanPersie, but VanPersie is very classy himself. So maybe if they keep playing together we'll see their partnership improve. But somehow I don't see it happening. Ade looks less fit, sluggish, lazy. He seems to loose concentration often during a game. His efforts come in phases. For large parts of the game he goes missing. But also, he doesn't do the basics right. He doesn't do what a striker is supposed to do - get in the box when there's a chance someone will cross it. I think some of the blame lies in the way we've been playing and we also have to factor in the fact that our first team has mostly been injured, and we've got the kids playing. But I think Ade's a little fed up of life at Arsenal. I think he wants to go. It'll be an interesting summer...]]>

  • Berth

< ![CDATA[Zohaib, am quiet confident Wenger has gone pass the point of playing Gallas /silvestre. He knows the combination could be a time bomb waiting for explosion.

Personally, getting an extra defender is not what we need. Even a defensive midfielder will be a mile away for me. Arshavin alone can make a massive difference as long as Lousy Diaby and Ebuoe don't play in the team. Bedtner to some extent too.]]>

  • zohaib

< ![CDATA[I don't think a lack of experience makes much difference to Wenger, in fact, isn't it the other way round - a quality that players need to have, to be signed by Arsenal.

As it is we have a striker-turned-CB in Toure playing at CB and Senderos who has as little talent as I've ever seen in a footballer and a couple of other goofs in Gallas and Silvestre. How much worse could Richards be. He reminds me of Sagna actually.

And it's not like we have worldclass CB's playing for us, in fact, Richards can only be a positive. At least he's a proper defender. We have CB's who don't know how to head the ball or who don't know how to communicate to keep danger out of their box properly. It could'nt be worse to get Richards, really.]]>

  • Fabrez

To me, this summer we will see who is really loyal & who isn’t. If Ade goes, i will NOT be bothered as long as he’s replaced. Henry was talented but also successful at Arsenal because he wore the Arsenal badge on his heart (and some classy players played alongside him). Ade does not give his all…str8 facts…he can go…not bothered. I’ll tell u that I for 1 will play for Arsenal with more heart than he does. I kno the injuries have pretty much made things at the club look worse but as a fan, I firstly want players who want to play for the club and who have a great desire to be a gooner. If not, plz leave the club.

  • Fabrez

I have no problems with Toure…Gallas is not really that bad. Djourou is getting better. Silvestre and Senderos can go…not overly excited about getting Richards…just not convinced by him yet. And i really really wish we got Arshavin already & sold Eboue now *sigh* Frustrations associated with being an Arsenal fan…i’m pretty sure i’ll get grey hair b4 i’m due to!

  • zohaib

< ![CDATA[Berth - when did I say I wanted Gallas and Silvestre to play together ? Hell no. Never. I've already stated before that my first 2 CB's from the current crop of loonies we have would be Toure and Djourou.

Other point - I didn't mean to suggest that if we do get a CB that we'll go on to win the title. In fact, even if we do sign Arshavin, I think we still won't be any closer to winning anything this year. It'll take 3 or 4 signings for us to become a proper title-challenging team for next year. A CB, a DM, a winger, maybe 2 wingers, and a replacement for Adebayor if he continues to be garbage.

But what I think will happen is, we'll continue to play Gallas or Silvestre when one of Toure and Djourou is injured/needs a rest. We'll continue to rely on the inexperienced Song and Denilson at DM. And we'll persist with Eboue and Bendtner on the right wing.

I'm wondering what will happen when we have Rosicky, Cesc, Walcott, Nasri, Eduardo, VanPersie, Adebayor all available. How will we play them ? What formation ? Who sits out ?]]>

  • Berth

< ![CDATA[I do aplogoze for getting you wrong earlier Zohaib. Better get headache over too many players than too many injured players. I still stick with what am saying.

Song is not bad for the DM position, what he really needs is being sharp and playing his heart for the team and not relaxing like an over weight player. May be u guys don't see what am seeing. Aside complacency from Ade, Lousy Ebuoe, Diaby and Bedtner(Sth). the team can be really good.]]>

  • Debs

I definitely agree with you Berth- the team can be good, if we can get everyone playing their best at the same time- we usually have some ppl being on top of their game in some matches, while some, like u said, are being complacent. When all 11 players on the pitch are giving it their all, the team can be really good. But would that ever happen? Only Wenger would know!

And I find it interesting that you, Kieran, would have Senderos over Richards, when going by your logic, both are inexperienced because they’re 20ish.I’m not sure I said that actually – I think I said Micah Richards is no magic bullet or quick fix answer because he is in-experienced and prone to lapses in concentration. Much like Senderos! I then said I’d prefer Senderos to Silvestre. Not quite what you intimated :D

To be honest I’d rather have neither – Toure, Gallas and Djourou are all better than both Senderos/Richards, in my opinion!]]>

But I doubt it’s the same people that’ve been saying the team lacks experience and age, that have been asking for Richards. Which is what you were trying to intimate :D

The team lacks experience in midfield. Richards has nothing to do with that.

Sorry for the double post I submitted but nothing appeared so i did it again. I heard both on BBC Website….admittedly the gossip section but just thought i would add it on here.

An article on SkySports was just added. It reports on Arshavin talking to ‘Sports Express’, saying he still hasn’t heard from Zenit, if he’ll be allowed to leave or not.
