  < ![CDATA[Classic brinkmanship - which side will cave in first? Arsenal have made it clear they won't cave in, and Arsene Wenger doesn't really appear to be that desperate to sign him. Zenit however appear really desperate to sign Arshavin - he can buy himself out of his contract in the summer so it's last chance saloon.

  Ironically that's also one of the reasons the other clubs are holding back. If the Arsenal bid does fall through and Arshavin does buy himself out of his contract in the summer he will be a freee agent and all the other clubs can offer him ludicrous signing fees.

  It's definitely been more interesting than the Kaka thing, but the longer it drag's on the longer I think it might be hijacked by another club - although Spurs now have a new manager so I guess that ends their interest and only City really have the money or inclination to buy a creative midfielder currently. Not sure about the other leagues, but I think Zenit are damaging their standing in world football by trying to coax other clubs out of the woodwork.]]>

  if we don’t get Arshavin this month, do you guys think Wenger’ll try and get him when/if he buys out his contract and becomes a free agent? or is it a now or never type transfer Wenger’s after?

  I’m thinkin it is now or never with Arshavin seeing that we have so many players of high quality that come back from injury by the time summer comes round.

  < ![CDATA[He's probably not going to come back, well, except if he gets shipped back right to us! Lol
  But if he does come back though, he'll probably just be cover for situations such as like we had a few weeks ago, with Silvestre and Gallas both injured and stuff. He's been on the bench most of the time on loan, so I guess another season wouldn't hurt! lol. But I'd definitely go for Senderos over Silvestre any time though (maybe I'm being slightly harsh on Silvestre)!
  But I'm sure there'll definitely be someone interested in him though!]]>

  Madness. He might have been pretty patchy for the Gooners but he's shown some good form in the past, particularly in the European Championship.

  They both make mistakes but at least Sendoros has pace, talent, age and skill on his side!!]]>

  < ![CDATA[We actually did get stuck in in the second half, and it really was all Arsenal, but well, no end product. Cardiff seemed to set themselves up for the draw in the second half and we just couldn't find the back of the net- not for lack of trying though! Not too too upset about the draw, even though we should have put the match to bed, but our unbeaten run is still intact, and no goals were conceded (although Fabianski wasn't tested much, but he did make one or two brilliant saves!)
  But hopefully Eduardo will be fit for the replay, and where better to make his comeback than in front of the Arsenal faithful?
  PS Fabrez, I chose Senderos over Silvestre cos you know what you're getting with him- Silvestre, I still don't know! lol]]>

  True Kieran…did not factor in the age… Well i guess that means Senderos has time 2 improve…perhaps Silvestre is past his best…so fair shout on that 1! I think i’m still bothered by the horid marking from Senderos that led to that Torres goal in the Champions League last yr…leaves a bitter bitter taste in my mouth man!!!

  I'd take Silvestre over Senderos. The only thing Senderos has over Silvestre is age. In my opinion, he has no pace, skill or talent that Kieran somehow believes. Drogba isn't the quickest striker around and he can easily sprint past Senderos. What good is his age if he's just as slow as Silvestre, probably slower.

  I think what you meant, Kieran, was that you hope because he's still young, that he'll get better with age. But I'm not one for hoping. I'm for doing something, rather than sitting back and waiting. We're all pretty tired of waiting for everything to come good.

  Silvestre has experience going for him. He gives us better cover at LB than Gallas, Senderos or Gibbs. So the way I see it, it's better to have him in the team than Senderos. I think the only reason Senderos was in the team was because he had slightly better aerial ability than Toure and Gallas. But now that Djourou has improved, I doubt we'll need to rely on Senderos.

  I've mentioned it on the other article's comments, we're linked with Micah Richards. If we can get him, it'd really solidify our CB. He'd provide great cover for RB as well. And it'd make sense to sell off Senderos if we get Richards.]]>

He’s not exactly a whirlwind of talent now, and in a years time he’ll be hobbling across the pitch with a zimmer frame.

  Micah Richards is just another Francis Jeffers. Lot’s of promise, no pay up. He’s having a torrid time for City at the moment, he’s one of their worst performing players.

  I agree we need a solid CB, but we also need someone with consistency which we’ve really lacked since Keown/Adams. Even Sol had his bad days (like in the cup this weekend!).]]>

  Oh dear I’ve come over all funny! Ancelloti said last month that Sendoros was the fastest CB he’s worked with and you think Silvestre is quicker?! Maybe 15 years ago when Silvestre was 20 and Sendoros was 5 (give or take, I’m not sure of their exact ages).

  I don’t remember Ancelotti saying that. And I don’t care what Ancelotti has to say. I’ve seen him play numerous times for us. My opinions are based on what I see, not what I hear managers say. It was probably taken out of context anyway.

  What’s funny is how you believe Senderos is the fastest CB Ancelotti has ever worked with. Then again, it’s Italy we’re talking about. Where the pace of the game is nothing compared to England or Spain. Doesn’t mean much even if he is the fastest CB in Italy. He should stay there if so. It’d be good for both him and Arsenal.

  Nah, I’m not saying Senderos is any good Zohaib, stand down the strikeforce. But he does have relatively good pace for a centre back and unfortunately fella, people get slower as they get older and Silvestre is much older than Senderos. I wish it wasn’t true believe me, or I’d score more goals myself.
