Theo Walcott nets three as England win 4 – 1…

And today was a serious test for the young lad. And he passed with flying colours, scoring three past a tough Croatian team.

His first was a ricochet when a Croatian defender tried to clear and the ball fell nicely to Walcott and he dummied to cross but lashed the ball in the back of the net. The second was from a similar position, from a sublime pass from Wayne Rooney and again the ball was struck diagonally across the keeper into the back of the net. The third came from an exquisite pass from Rooney, which put Theo through on goal, running from deep and running from right to left, with a defender next to him, he slot into the right hand side past the keeper.

Awesome stuff.

Theo spoke after the game:

“I’m not going to get ahead of myself, I’ll take every game as it comes. Obviously when I get home I’ll watch it over and over again, but tomorrow it will all be gone. I’m just looking forward to the Premiership now.”

How humble? His performances of late have been good and the player has deserved a goal or two.

“It was a relief. I tend to do a lot of hard work and not get that goal I deserve. But the whole team were fantastic.”

And on how England will fair in the future and whether they can go own to grow from this…

“Hopefully we can. We will take our positives, and negatives, out of these games. We’re not going to get ahead of ourselves and I’m sure if we do that we’ll be fine. We just have to put teams on the back foot, if we play like that at home I’m sure that will be brilliant.”

A grand performance from Theo, I’ll be back tomorrow…

Til then…]]>

< ![CDATA[Its great reading 606 and all the naysayers who were backing Owen/Beckham etc over Walcott - they all think he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Although there are obviously a few Spurz fans insisting David I'm Bigger Than The World Bentley his the rightful king of the flank.]]>
