Traore signs for Portsmouth on year long loan…

I'm happy to see Armand go on loan, I think the boy needs it, but I'll be a little worried when we take on Portsmouth as they've out togther quite a formidable team.

Armand is the most high profile loan departure of our squad and with Silvestre coming in as cover for Clichy, the young lad can gain some valuable experience down on the south coast.

Armand spoke of the move:

“I want us to be up in the top half of the table and to win at least a trophy,”

“It would be great to defend the FA Cup – I think that it’s a great competition.”

“Harry Redknapp is a good manager and the fact that he told me he had confidence in me; that was a big reason for me to come here.

“And Portsmouth are a very good team. They are in the UEFA Cup and that’s great for the club.”

Portmouth’s Chief Exec Peter Storrie, said:

“We’re delighted that Armand has decided to join us for the season. There were half-a-dozen other clubs interested in signing him on loan.”

“He’s strong and quick and a player that Harry has admired since seeing him play for Arsenal’s first team last season.”

Of course, Vicent Kompany has signed for Man City and I’ve received quite a few texts lambasted the signing of Silvestre over Kompany – but I think Arsene rates Djourou higher than Kompany, both of whom are relatively young and wants experience over another young prospect. Rumours of an £12m price tag for the defender may also be a detterent, no doubt…

The site has now been updated on the right hand side, you can see the new squad list and updated transfers – I’ll be added a list of loanees out too, so you can keep an eye on who’s playing where…]]>
