Adding Amaury to the Arsenal, Theo takes on bigger boots

Big transfer news today shows us very strongly linked with Werder Bremen’s Amaury Bischoff. I believe he is available on a free transfer having rejected a new deal with Bremen. Bischoff said:

‘Bremen was superb, but Arsenal is a huge opportunity for me.

Wenger has known me since my time at Strasbourg and believes in my quality. He trusts me to be in the first team.

He has not put me under any pressure. He said: “Take all the time you need”.’

With this coming from the player and not his agent/Marca/The Sun I’m more inclined to believe it is real. The other story of the day links us with Villarreal’s Marcos Senna. This DOES come from the Sun and so its reliability is doubtful. I think Senna is a great player. I saw him play against us in the Semis of the 2006 Champions League and he was very good. He plays the Flamini/Gilberto role and I am sure you all know of his abilities after his success with Spain at the Euro’s, if not before. Good though he may be I don’t see it happening. Gilberto looks set to stay on and I should think Arsene would sooner use his transfer funds on other (probably younger) players. We’ll see.

Stories from France suggest that the final hurdle for our completing the signing of Nasri is Ben Arfa’s move from Lyon to Marseille. With Ben Arfa set to attend pre-season training with Marseille and Lyon claiming he is still their player, I can see this turning messy. Sort it out guys!

Congratulations to Gael Clichy for coming second in the Arsenal.com’s Player of the Season Poll. Who is going to win it?]]>
