Another Quiet Day At The Office…

So in the meantime, news circulates around the real football stories, the Euro 2008 games, the Russian performance tonight and of course, the Turkish delight of the other night (and yes I was happy to see Petr Cech mess up, big time!).

The Arsenal news today is all about Nasri, who's France team is out of the Euros and he's on the way home. With Arsene still at the finals commentating, it's unlikely that Nasri will speak to the gaffer again, having returned to France. A lot of websites are focusing on the impending transfer of Nasri, stating that he's days away. I'm not sure where the transfer stands, he's definitely not signed yet. But I do believe that it will be a matter of days, or maybe until next week. If he doesn't officially sign by next week, then there may well be a spanner in the works. A few sites say he's signed a pre-contract agreement and that may well be true.

La Provence, the French paper which broke the story, says he's signed a deal and that Marseille are ready to buy Hatem Ben Arfa to replace him, for similar money - I'm not so sure that Ben Arfa wants the deal, but then again I'm not a French football pundit...

Taking a quick look at the other clubs in the league, Chelsea have obviously appointed Portugal coach Scolari as manager and it may see a few Portuguese players, such as Quaresma and Deco join Chelsea. I don't rate Quaresma as highly as others, and Deco will be 32 next birthday. It will be interesting to see how he manages all the egos of owner's favourite Shevchenko and of course, the Drogbas, Anelkas etc. Will Lampard be re-united with Mourinho at Inter? I think there is going to be a lot of off the field antics which will play in our favour. All the changes of personnel at Chelsea feels like it will have a negative effect.

Man U on the other hand, do look balanced, and the possibility of Ronaldo leaving is really leaving uncertainty around the fans and club. I'd be happy to see him move, he is a real threat and United without 41 goals will be a different proposition altogether.

It seems like Liverpool are getting weaker too, with Alonso off to  Juventus and Riise off to Roma - I don't think Barry and Bentley will turn them into title winners. I'd rather have Ramsey, Vela and Nasri to add to Van Persie, Ade, Eduardo, Bendtner, Cesc...

Exciting times ahead...

Til tomorrow...]]>
