Quiet Day At The Office

Reports emanating yesterday suggested that we had a 30% sell on clause in Fabrice Muamba's deal with Birmingham. Muamba has recently moved to Bolton for a fee of £5m which would see us gain a nice little £1.5m. I couldn't see any official news on this, most sources were blogs and blog based sites. If it's true, then maybe a free drink at the West Brom game for the supports, or maybe a little bit more to entice Nasri with...

Turning our attention to the Euro's, it's been a mixed day for Euro Gooners, with Van Persie playing well and getting some minutes under his belt (and a cracking goal too) and Gallas being dumped out of the tournament, get some rest old friend, and come back next season in some better form.

Another player who is on his way home is Samir Nasri and that may allow us to conclude the deal in the next week or so. Nasri's Euro 2008 was average, but then again, his minutes on the pitch were limited. The people in the know suggest a fee has been agreed, for around £12.5m and a pre-contract agreement has already been signed pending a few matters. Should those matters be resolved, it could be two signings in the month of June (with Ramsey joining us earlier this month). With reports that Rosicky may miss the start of next season, this Nasri deal is looking more important. Uncertainty surrounds where Hleb will play his game next season. Part of me presumes he's off, and if he's not, then we've got another player to think about. More thoughts on this if it happens or if not, then on August 31st.... at 23:59.

A mention surely should go out to Clichy and Sagna, whom both would have surely made an impact. When you look at Holland and how they've embraced the more youthful side of their team, players such as Clichy and Sagna could have added the energy that they've not had. A mention also for Ben Arfa who impressed pre-tournament but didn't get selected. Players such as Makelele and Govou surely had no place in the French setup where as the Flamini's and Diarra's would surely have made a better impact. Arsene's not so close friend, Domanech will surely be off after their elimination....

Well, that's a wrap for today, short and sweet...

'Til tomorrow...]]>
