Match Day: Wigan vs Arsenal, let's go 4 points clear

Wigan vs Arsenal

Okay, now Wigan. It’s match day today and it’s going to be an interesting day. With the aforementioned title rivals not in action this weekend, a win today will see us go 4 points clear. In the previous two seasons, we have travelled to the JJB and come away with three points both times – but they’ve been hard fought games, the 3-2 win two seasons ago and the 1-0 win last season.

Yes, we’ve just won at the San Siro, beating Milan 2-0 in their backyard, but today’s game will be a challenge. The is pressure on us and Wigan will give us everything they can as they’re fighting for their life.

In yesterday’s blog, I took a look at the current injuries and the squad. One thing that has been reported in several blogs is that Denilson suffered a recurrence of his hamstring injury. However, none of the newspapers have mentioned it. So I really don’t know he will be available or not. We’ll find out shortly.

The line up will look like:

Almunia
Goalkeeper
Sagna
Right Back
Gallas
Centre Back
Senderos
Centre Back
Clichy
Left Back
Fabregas
Right Wing
Flamini
Defensive Midfielder
Gilberto
Defensive Midfielder
Hleb
Left Wing
Adebayor
Stiker
Bendtner
Support Stiker

The kick off is at 4pm live on sky sports – for those of you who have sky, you’ll be glad to know you can now watch all the sky sports channels live via the web site.

I’ll keep it short today as each post I do seems to be longer than the one before. Good luck to the boys and if we play like we know we can, a good win is ours for the taking.

Arsene signs Ignasi Miquel

Arsene has signed 15 year old 6 foot 2 inch wonderkid Ignasi Miquel. Miquel is currently with Catalan club Cornella. Miquel has been shown around and has agreed to move. He will join in September when he turns 16. We have also been linked with Bafetimbi Gomis, dubbed the new Didier Drogba.

Round Up

Here’s a quick round up of the news around the net and in the papers. Robert Pires compares the Premiership and Primeral Liga and comments on how we’ve got the strongest league in the world now. Arsene talks about the style of play and how winning trophies isn’t the aim of his game. He talks about this as he reacts to Mourinho’s comments about Arsene having it easy. Arsene talks about people “cheating” and how he prefers to do it his way, the proper way. It’s a clear swipe at Mourinho where success has really been bought with a cheque book.

More of all of this tomorrow, but for now, let’s see how we fair up north, let’s play like we know we can and end the day 4 points clear.]]>
